TODAY Hospital concert

Michael Underwood, principal trombonist with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, and David Renfro, the orchestra’s principal horn player, will join the orchestra’s Rockefelle­r String Quartet for a concert at 4:30 p.m. today in the lobby of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences hospital, 4301 W. Markham St., Little Rock, part of the Dr. Ruth Marie Allen Concert Series at UAMS.

Renfro and the quartet — Katherine Williamson and Trisha McGovern Freeney, violins; Katherine Reynolds, viola; and Ethan Young, cello — will play the Horn Quintet in E-flat Major, K.407, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Underwood will play the Serenade No.6, op.44, for trombone, viola, and cello by Vincent Persichett­i and Suite for alto trombone and string quartet by Corrado Maria Saglietti. The quartet will play the String Quartet by Claude Debussy.

UALR exhibits

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock Art Gallery has two exhibits featuring the work of faculty members:

The UALR Art Faculty Biennial Show, on display through Nov. 28 in Gallery 1, UALR Fine Arts Building, 2801 S. University Ave., features drawings and mixed media, printmakin­g, photograph­y, painting, ceramics, graphic design, sculpture, metalwork and furniture design by Kevin Cates, David Clemons, Tom Clifton, Rico Cuatlacuat­l, Tim Garth, Mia Hall, Heidi Hogden, Joli Livaudais, Eric Mantle, Carey Roberson, Aj Smith, David Smith, Marjorie Williams-Smith, Kerry Hartman, Brad Cushman, Win Bruhl, Sofia Gonzalez and Rachel Smith. A free reception will take place 2-4 p.m. Sunday.

“How to Paint Good,” paintings and mixed-media works that Eric Mantle created during his spring 2016 sabbatical, on display through Nov. 23 in the Maners/Pappas Gallery.

Bubble Show

A Riga, Latvia-based troupe takes audiences under the sea in B — The Underwater Bubble Show, featuring visual effects (lasers, stage machinery, soap-bubbles tornado, snow blowers and smoke rings) and original music, 7 p.m. today in Riceland Auditorium, Grand Prairie Center, 2709 U.S. 165 South, Stuttgart. WEDNESDAY Colonial women

Morris “Buzz” Arnold — senior judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and an amateur historian — will offer a presentati­on titled “Women in Colonial Arkansas” for the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies’ Legacies & Lunch, noon Wednesday in the Darragh Center, Central Arkansas Library System Main Library, 100 Rock St., Little Rock.
