–––––❖––––– HELEN LOUISE GRAY BURCHFIELD, 87, lifelong resident of North Little Rock passed away Monday, December 5, 2016. She was born April 30, 1929 in North Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Silas and Lillie B. Gray Hagins. She was a member of Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Sam M. Burchfield. She is survived by her daughters, Juanita Burchfield, of Solgohachi­a, Arkansas and Elizabeth Fulmer (Don) of Fayettevil­le; four grandchild­ren, Matt, Mark, Emily and Donnie; one great-grandchild, Leighton; her brother, Robert Gray (Claudia) of Joplin, Missouri, and many nieces, nephews and other extended family that will miss her.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Jacksonvil­le Care Center for the loving care they provided for our mother. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, December 9th at Gardener Memorial United Methodist Church with a visitation prior to service at 10 a.m., at the church. –––––❖––––– BRYAN EARL BYRD, 65 of Little Rock, died peacefully at home on Tuesday. “Don’t write all that stuff about me” he said, so here we go… Born January 6, 1951 in Mountain Home to Gertie and the late Hiram E. Byrd, Bryan is survived by his wife of 44 years, Debbie Huneycutt Byrd.

Bryan is also survived by his three children and their families, Sam and Alicia Byrd, Eli and Emily of Little Rock; Erin Byrd and Shaun Oliver, Ethan, Elliot, and Ezra of Fayettevil­le, Rachel Byrd and Matt Silvestri, Evan and Elle of Fayettevil­le. Bryan is survived by his mother, and three brothers; Hiram E. Byrd, Jr. of Mountain Home, Dwight Byrd of Mountain Home, and Barrett Byrd of Alexandria, Louisiana.

Bryan enjoyed his career as a ceramic engineer and was proud of his company, American Restoratio­n Tile, formed in 2000. He also enjoyed pretending to be a rockstar with his banjo and his Wednesday night friends, the Pickoids.

–––––❖––––– CHRISTEN CAZORT FRANKE, 37, passed away Sunday December 4, 2016. She was so much more than we can write in this space, this is almost impossible to do. She was born May 15, 1979 in Little Rock, Ark. After college she became the manager, and heart and soul, of her family’s restaurant, Franke’s Cafeteria. She worked side by side with her beloved parents, William and Carolyn Franke, in continuing on the tradition of providing food served with love to the community. She was set to marry her fiance’, the love of her life, Daniel Christakos, on January 14, 2017 and had never been happier.

She was a best friend and sister, to Kathryn Franke Kitchens, and a loving sister-in-law to Kevin Kitchens. In one of her most favorite roles, she was beloved Aunt CC to her niece and nephew, Katelyn and Andrew. For them, she hung the moon, and is now dancing in the stars. She was also an adored friend to many, granddaugh­ter, niece, cousin, daughter-in-law, and a respected member of the restaurant community.

She was loved by all who knew her and could light up a room with her smile. She will be greatly missed. Heaven has never shined so bright.

A celebratio­n of Christen’s life will be held on December 9, 2016 at 2 p.m. at St. James United Methodist Church, 321 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock. –––––❖––––– GORDON HERRINGTON, 53, of Roland, Arkansas went home to be with the Lord early Thanksgivi­ng morning, November 24,

2016 at his home. He was born August 10, 1963 in Hawthorne, California. He was a graduate of Bryant High School and Pulaski Technical College. Gordon spent 8 years in the Air Force serving our country. He was currently the Maintenanc­e Director at Woodland Heights Retirement Center in Little Rock.

Gordon was preceded in death by his paternal grandparen­ts, AC and Georgie Herrington of Louisiana; maternal grandparen­ts, Johannes and Ella Nita of Germany.

He is survived by his father, Finis George Herrington; mother, Edeltraut (Karin) Davenport; brother, Klaus Herrington; sister, Susan Meek; nieces, Shelley and Mallory Meek; a host of family and friends.

Gordon loved everyone. He enjoyed pets, hunting and fishing. He always wore a big smile and was a friend to all. He will be greatly missed.

–––––❖––––– EDWARD EUGENE “GENE” LEWELLEN SR., 83, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on December 5, 2016. He was born December 9, 1933 to Joseph and Frances Abrames Lewellen. He was the owner and operator of Terry’s Finer Foods for over 30 years. He worked there for many years prior to ownership. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing and watching baseball.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; son, Edward Eugene Lewellen, Jr.; and two brothers, Bill and Tom Lewellen. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mae Bell Moreland Lewellen; son, Jeffrey Lewellen; grandchild­ren; Kendall Lewellen and Patience Petersen; great-grandson, Jaiden Petersen and brother, Jim Lewellen.

–––––❖––––– REGINALD “REGGIE” D. MARSHALL, 58, died November 30, 2016. He was born on December 4, 1957 in Arkadelphi­a, Arkansas to the late Darrell and Fern Sutton Marshall.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Tammy and his dear friend, George Posan. He leaves behind his sister, Rhonda Compton, of Sheridan, Arkansas, his business partner, Jim Clements of Little Rock, Arkansas along with his two faithful miniature German Schnauzers, Boo and Maxi Jones.

Reggie was baptized in the Saline River at Jenkins Ferry and later joined the First United Methodist Church of Sheridan. Reggie graduated from Sheridan High School then attended the University of Arkansas where he studied art. In his early years,

he worked at his parent’s store, South Park Furniture, where he honed his design skills on instore decoration­s and independen­t interior design jobs.

Reggie’s varied interests included gardening, antiquing, and traveling. In 1981, he and Jim Clements founded Marshall Clements Interiors & Antiques. The two began importing antiques from all over the world. The passion and interest grew and continued over the next 35 years. Reggie’s legacy as a brilliant designer with a one of a kind eye for treasures will continue after his death.

Standing 6’6, Reggie’s joie de vivre and personalit­y were as imposing as his stature. He always had time for his friends; to listen to a problem, advise on a project, or just to share his infectious laughter. He loved working with young designers. Many that he mentored during his lifetime now have establishe­d businesses of their own. Reg was a “goto” kind of guy for everyone who knew him. His body of work and his many friends will long be a testament to what a kind and truly uniquely talented person he was.

–––––❖––––– JOSHUA AARON NICHOLAS, 23, of Little Rock, entered Heaven’s gate November 28, 2016. Joshua attended Pulaski Technical College and was a member of the staff of Little Rock Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Lauren Nicholas; mother, Melissa Pickard Nicholas of Little Rock; father, Stephen Nicholas of Benton; aunt, Jera Batterton (Chris) of Little Rock; brothers, Ethan and Eli Nicholas of Hot Springs; godson, Carter Kelly; and other relatives and friends. –––––❖––––– HELEN CORDELIA ROWE, age 91, of Roland passed away on December 6, 2016. She was born January 27, 1925 in St. Louis, Mo., to the late William and Mayme Kubik. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John Rowe and two sisters. Mrs. Rowe was a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church.
