State anglers advance to high school championsh­ip

ROYAL — Jonathan Pipkins of Benton and Elijah Luna of Cabot recently won the The Bass Federation High School Fishing Arkansas State Championsh­ip tournament at Lake Ouachita to qualify for the High School Fishing National championsh­ip June 27-July 1 at Pickwick Lake in Florence, Ala. Pipkins and Luna won the tournament by catching 5 bass that weighed 15 pounds, 7 ounces. A field of 115 teams competed in the no-entry fee tournament with the top 10 percent advancing to the championsh­ip. Teams moving on include: 2. Trenton Bailey of Stephens and William Hill of El Dorado, representi­ng Smackover High School 3. Spencer Wiles of Hardy and Matt Boyd of Cherokee Village, representi­ng Highland High School 4. Jay Gore and Noah Boyett of Norfork, representi­ng Mountain Home High School 5. Kory England and Dylan Watson of Hope, representi­ng Spring Hill High School 6. Hunter Davis and Tyler Allenbrand of Mount Ida, representi­ng Mount Ida High School 7. Larry Thompson of Paron and Nathan Stout of Perryville, representi­ng Perryville high School 8. Fisher Bissell and Fisher Davis of Mount Ida, representi­ng Mount Ida High School 9. Ellison Caldwell of Hot Springs and Josh Walpole Mountain of Pine MountainHi­gh School Pine, representi­ng 10. Ricky Pennington and Bryer Pennington of Prescott, representi­ng Prescott High School 11. Cole Trotter of Ozark and Cody Jackson of Altus, representi­ng the Western Arkansas High School Hawghunter­s.
