CONWAY — Hendrix College alumna Amy Meredith Forbus will join the Office of Marketing Communications at her alma mater in June as communications director.

Forbus, who graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, brings 20 years of professional communications experience to her new role.

She returns to Hendrix from the office of the Arkansas Conference of the United Methodist Church, where she has served as editor of the monthly Arkansas United Methodist newspaper since August

2010 and has been recognized for award-winning writing and photography.

In addition to her role with the print publication, Forbus is a member of the conference’s Center for Technology team and shares responsibility for creating and distributing content through the conference website and other channels.

“It’s such an honor to be joining the Hendrix staff, and in particular the marketing communications team,” Forbus said. “As an alumna in the communications field, I’ve worked with members of this team over the years, so I know the high quality of their work and the dedication they bring to it.”

Prior to her tenure at the Arkansas Conference, Forbus worked for UMR Communications Inc. in Dallas, Texas, managing digital communications for the national weekly publication the United Methodist Reporter.

In addition to her communications experience in the nonprofit sector, she has worked with a full-service advertising agency and managed media relations for technology-services clients.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Amy join the team,” said Rob O’Connor, associate vice president for marketing communications. “Not only is she a loyal alumna who cares deeply about Hendrix; she brings a wealth of professional communications experience, perspective and skills that will make a great impact on Hendrix for years to come.”

Helen Plotkin, vice president for marketing communications, applauded the addition of Forbus to the marketing communications team.

“Amy is a great choice to join this already strong team,” Plotkin said. “Her experience and skill will make her a wonderful colleague for Rob as he takes on the vice president’s role after I retire at the end of May.”
