Four people killed in separate wrecks on Arkansas roads

Four people died in accidents on Arkansas roads since Saturday.

A 76- year- old woman was killed Sunday when the pickup she was riding in collided with a sport utility vehicle in southeast Arkansas, authoritie­s said.

The crash happened about 5: 30 p. m. at the intersecti­on of U. S. 65 and Arkansas 35 in Chicot County, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

A 2013 Toyota Highlander that was westbound on Arkansas 35 failed to yield the right of way and hit a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado that was southbound on U. S. 65.

A passenger in the Silverado, Mary Williams of Lucedale, Miss., died at the scene, police said.

A second passenger in the Silverado and both drivers were listed in the report as being hurt, though it didn’t detail the extent of their injuries.

Conditions at the time were reported to be clear and dry.

A 20- year- old Arkansas man was fatally injured and three other people were hurt Sunday in a wreck that occurred after the vehicle they were in struck a deer, authoritie­s said.

It happened shortly after 12: 45 a. m. as a 1982 Chevrolet was traveling at a high rate of speed south on Arkansas 225 north of Greers Ferry in Cleburne County, Arkansas State Police said.

The vehicle hit a deer in the road and then ran off the right side of the highway, according to a preliminar­y crash report. The driver then overcorrec­ted, police said, and the vehicle rolled over.

Two back- seat passengers were ejected, according to the report.

One passenger, Anthony Joseph Aquilino of Higden, suffered fatal injuries. The driver, 21- year- old Jeffery Cole Galeazzi of Greers Ferry, and two other passengers, 24- old Dylan W. Hooten of

Greers Ferry and a female minor whose name was not released, were also hurt, according to the report. No informatio­n on the extent of their injuries was listed.

Conditions at the time of the wreck were said to be clear and dry.

A motorcycli­st from Arkansas was killed after he collided with a car at an intersecti­on in Chicot County on Sunday night, officials said.

A 2006 Honda Shadow was traveling west on Arkansas 159 near an intersecti­on with U. S. 65 along the bank of Lake Chicot about 8: 50 p. m., according to an Arkansas State Police report.

The motorcycle started to turn onto the U. S. highway and collided with a northbound 2009 Honda Accord, police said.

Mark W. Hopper, 51, of Monticello was reportedly riding the motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries.

No one else was reported injured, and conditions were cloudy and dry at the time.

A pedestrian from Arkansas died after he was struck by a car while crossing a U. S. highway in Pulaski County on Saturday night, officials said.

A 2004 Dodge Stratus was heading north on U. S. 67 near the Pulaski- Lonoke county line outside Jacksonvil­le about 9: 05 a. m., according to an Arkansas State Police report. The Stratus struck a pedestrian who was crossing the highway, police said.

That man, 54- year- old Charles Sheppard of Vilonia, suffered fatal injuries, police said.

No one else was reported hurt in the wreck. Conditions were said to be clear and dry at the time.
