Seminar set on Arkansas after the war

The deadline is Friday to register for an August seminar in Little Rock about Reconstruc­tion in Arkansas after the Civil War.

A Confused and Confusing Affair: Arkansas and Reconstruc­tion will be 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Old State House Museum, 300 W. Markham. The registrati­on fee of $15 includes a boxed lunch.

Scheduled speakers and their topics include Carl Moneyhon, an overview of Reconstruc­tion in the United States; Jay Barth, the political climate in Reconstruc­tion Arkansas; Ken Barnes, political violence in Reconstruc­tion Arkansas; Col. Damon Cluck, military operations and militia in Reconstruc­tion Arkansas; Blake Wintory, black legislator­s in Reconstruc­tion Arkansas; Tom DeBlack, the Brooks-Baxter War; and Rodney Waymon Harris, the rise of the Redeemers and post-Reconstruc­tion politics.
