BATESVILLE — Tammy Gavin, a registered nurse, a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and chief ancillary/support services officer at White River Medical Center, was recently elected to the Council of the Section for Psychiatric and Substance Abuse Services.

The council is presented by the American Hospital Association. Council members are selected annually to serve three-year terms.

The council works with the AHA to identify ways to define and focus AHA policy, advocacy and member resources to improve the quality, efficiency and delivery of psychiatric and substanceabuse services. Gavin was elected to serve from January 2018 to December 2020.

Gavin has served in numerous leadership roles at WRMC. She began working there as an admissions nurse. She then transitioned into the role of director of quality and risk management. From there, she was given responsibility for rehab services and admissions.

In 1996, Gavin was named assistant administrator. In her most recent role as chief clinical officer, she was responsible for daily operation of the hospital. Today, Gavin is the chief ancillary/support services officer.

“We are grateful to have Tammy at White River Health System,” said Gary L. Bebow, CEO and administrator of the White River Health System. “Tammy’s continued dedication to the support of WRHS has improved the quality health care provided to our community.”
