THURSDAY Travel writer ‘ does’ LR

Travel writer Bill Clevlen will be in Little Rock from Thursday- Saturday for a series of special events and book signings promoting his new book, 100 Things to Do in America Before You Die.

The bucket- list travel guide for the first time features Little Rock locations, including the River Market District, the Museum of Discovery and the Esse Purse Museum.

The schedule includes a 10 a. m. Thursday meet- andgreet at the Museum of Discovery, 500 President Clinton Ave.; “Sip & Socialize,” 5: 30 p. m. Friday at the Esse Purse Museum, 1510 Main St.; and “Farmers Market Fun,” 9 a. m. Saturday in the Little Rock Farmers Market Pavilions, behind the River Market’s Ottenheime­r Market Hall, 400 President Clinton Ave. Cost of a book: $ 20 ( including tax).

TICKETS El Dorado district debut

Tickets go on sale at 9 a. m. Thursday for the concerts marking the debut of the Murphy Arts District, Sept. 27- Oct. 1 in downtown El Dorado.

Murphy USA, Murphy Oil Corp., and Deltic Timber Corp. put together the $ 100 million project, the first $ 54 million phase of which has focused on the 1928 Griffin Auto Co. building, once an assembly center and showroom for Model T Fords, and which now will feature a farm- to- table restaurant, cabaret lounge and 2,000- seat music hall. The building overlooks the new 8,000- capacity Murphy Amphitheat­er.

Phase II will involve a $ 32 million renovation of the 1920s Rialto Theater and the creation of a 10,000- squarefoot art gallery and exhibition hall with artist in- residence quarters.
