DORIS GENEVA HOGUE BRADBURY, 90 of Mabelvale, passed away August 16, 2017. She was born January 25, 1927 in Sardis, Arkansas to the late Arlie and Mattie Williams Hogue. Doris was a member of the Sardis United Methodist Church in Sardis. She started Bradbury Christmas Tree Farm in 1979 until 2000 and also was owner of Sardis Flowers and Gifts in Sardis.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wesley Bradbury; son, Buddy Bradbury; and brother, Otis Hogue. She is survived by her sons, Joe ( Tracy) Bradbury and Ricky (Jenne) Bradbury both of Sardis; daughters, Janette Jondro of Sardis, Deloras (B.J.) Haze of Denver, Colorado, Nina (Denver) Barnard of Little Rock; brother, Billy Joe Hogue of Little Rock; sisters, Jean Jackson of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Willie Styles of Conway; 12 grandchild­ren and nine great-grandchild­ren.

Church services will be held at Sardis United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday with Troy Conrad and Sue Howe officiatin­g. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery in Sardis. –––––❖––––– JOYCE M. STARK, age 75, went to be with our Lord and Savior on August 13, 2017. She was born on March 15, 1942 in Harris, Iowa to Herbert and Lucille McClain. She loved horses, reading, and swimming. Joyce was devout in her Methodist faith.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Lucille McClain; son, Vernon Grangaard; and brother, Harvey McClain. She is survived by her children, Rae DeMarco and Judy (Jimmy) Dobbs; her six grandchild­ren, Stephanie, Justin, Brandy, Dustin, Gynnifer and Jimmy Jr.; her six great-grandchild­ren Taryn, Paige, Blake, Jed, Noah and Gracelynn. She leaves behind her brother, Dick (Loretta) McClain and a sister-in-law, Marsha McClain.

BENTON — Esther Juanita Marter, 88 of Benton, passed away Wednesday. She was born on May 8, 1929 to the late James and Willie McCrory in Holly Grove, Arkansas. Esther was a member of First Baptist Church of Benton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Marter Jr.; five brothers; three sisters. Survivors: son, Charles Marter III and daughter, Carolyn Cole; three grandchild­ren.

–––––❖––––– CABOT — Sue Webb, aka “Wanda Sue Nicholson” went to be with God and to be reunited with her family that preceded her in death. Sue was born January 26, 1942 in Ash Flat, Arkansas to the late Owen Clayton Nicholson and Addie Irene (Long) Nicholson, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ernie Nicholson, Parnell Nicholson, as well as her youngest son, Michael Clay Wilson and her lifelong best friend, Wilma Matus.

She is survived by her daughter Susie Schmidt (Don); her oldest son, Greg Wilson (Liz); four grandchild­ren, Cody Roling of Ward, who was always either coming by or calling to check on his Mamaw and his Mom, Timothy Roling, USAF, currently deployed to Kuwait, Garrett Wilson, and Kristen Wilson. She is also survived by five brothers and one sister, namely, Wilbur Nicholson (Syble), Wesley Nicholson (Tonya), Presley Nicholson (Brenda), Dexter Nicholson (Loretta), James Nicholson (Sherry), and her sister, Mattie Shope.

Sue suffered for 17 years with Parkinson’s Disease, over five years with dementia, a little over a year with MDS (Myelodyspl­astic Syndrome) a group of cancers of the blood. Sue’s daughter Susie was her sole caregiver from May 2016, when she quit her job as a nurse and moved her Mom in with her and her husband. Sue was placed on hospice care June 25, 2017 after having a decline in health, partially related to a hip fracture and replacemen­t in May 2017. Sue’s daughter, Susie was with her holding her hand until she took her last breath, a former boyfriend and friend of Sue’s, James Hammons, was also with Sue at her time of death.

I would like to reserve this space to thank so very many people for visits, cards, calls and support for my Mom and me throughout my Mom’s illness, as follows: Sue’s brother, Wilbur Nicholson (Syble); Sue’s very dear, great, 2nd best friend for over 40 years, Mary Johnson. Sue’s brother Presley Nicholson (Brenda); her brother, James Nicholson (Sherry); her brother, Wesley Nicholson (Tonya) “Wesley’s the baby!” Dixie Nicholson (late brother Parnell’s wife); sister-in-law, Debbie Wilson, thanks for your help, thanks to my husband Don Schmidt for cooking 99% of our meals and picking up 99% of my mom’s prescripti­ons. Thank you to all of the staff at Arkansas Hospice. Mom loved you all with all her heart. I love you all too. I will forever love my mom and she will always be in my heart. She was always my mom and my Dad!

–––––❖––––– CONWAY — Alice Maybury Middlekauf­f, 87, of Conway and Hot Springs Village, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, at Crestpark of Wynne. Alice was born in Evergreen Park, Illinois, on March 10, 1930, to Owen and Opha Maybury.

She married Dallas Harold Middlekauf­f on August 24, 1957, and they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this year. The Middlekauf­fs were members of Village United Methodist Church in Hot Springs Village.

Alice was a former elementary school teacher in Conway. After retirement, she taught herself how to quilt, making dozens of quilts for her children and grandchild­ren. Alice loved spending time with her grandchild­ren, teaching them to quilt, taking them to museums, and spoiling them with gifts.

She is survived by her husband; her sister, Doris Trendler of Denver, Colo.; her children, Steve (Laura) Middlekauf­f of Conway, Susan (Donnie) Johnston of Wynne, and Nancy (Todd) Thompson of Opelousas, La.; eight grandchild­ren; and two great-grandchild­ren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 19, at the First United Methodist Church chapel in Conway. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. She was born May 21, 1938 in Wilson, Arkansas to William Elmer and Lola (Kennedy) Payne. Survivors include her husband, Maurice Hinshaw, Jr., three sons, Glen (Connie) Hinshaw, Howard Hinshaw, Wade (Cynthia) Hinshaw, two daughters, Dee (Glen) Parsons, Jenny (Kenneth) Pasley, numerous grandchild­ren, numerous great-grandchild­ren, one brother, Felix (Francis) Payne, one sister, Linda (Russell) Hillen. Mrs. Jewel was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and one sister. –––––❖––––– GURDON — Mrs. Bettye Jean Horne, age 93 of Gurdon, Arkansas passed away, Wednesday, August 16, 2017 in Arkadelphi­a, Arkansas. Mrs. Horne was a native of Sevier County and De Queen, Arkansas and was born on June 24, 1924 to Dr. Richard C. Dickinson and Belle (Gray) Dickinson. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gurdon, where she served on numerous committees. She was a graduate of the University of Arkansas and held a clinical pathology degree from the National Associatio­n of Clinical Pathologis­t in Kansas City, Missouri. Mrs. Horne and her late husband, Autrey founded the Horne Funeral Home in Gurdon, in 1953. They worked side by side until they sold the business in 1990. She was a former Secretary and Treasurer of Horne Burial Associatio­n and was a former officer and director of the Fidelity Standard Life Insurance Company.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Dr. Richard C. and Belle Dickinson, her three brothers; Dr. Roger C. Dickinson, Dr. Bill Dickinson and Dr. Gordon Gray Dickinson, and a sister; Juanita Dean. Survivors include; her daughter; Lisa Box and husband, Dr. James Box of Little Rock, her sister; Flo Dickinson of Horatio; two grandchild­ren, Tyler Box of Little Rock, and Whitney Foster of Little Rock, and two great-grandchild­ren, Landon and Olivia Foster.

–––––❖––––– HOT SPRINGS — Kenneth Ray Carroll, 76, of Hot Springs passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at his home. He was born April 28, 1941 in Copperas Cove, Texas to the late Dennis and Lena (Henderson) Carroll. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Leta Lynn Carroll, and one brother, Dennis W. Carroll. Mr. Carroll was a 32nd degree Free Mason at the local Benton Lodge, a member of Piney Baptist Church in Hot Springs, and was a truck driver for USA Truck for 20 years.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas Scott Carroll and wife Terri of Olive Branch, Miss. and Larry Ray Carroll and wife Georgeine of Somerville, Tenn.; one daughter, Nancie Lynn Garrett and husband Steve of Jessievill­e, Ark.; four grandchild­ren, Crystal Kulow and husband Chris of Alabaster, Ala., Kristin Riales and husband Tony of Bartlett, Tenn., and Faith Garrett and Paige Garrett both of Jessievill­e, Ark., and three great-grandchild­ren.

She was born November 21, 1946, in Hot Springs, to George Doyle and Esther Virginia (Goodman) Kingery. Virginia enjoyed reading, gardening, spending time with her grandchild­ren and great-grandchild, and caring for her cats. She had a passion for sewing, drawing, painting, and shopping for her great-granddaugh­ter, Grace. Virginia was a member of Marble Missionary Baptist Church.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; sister-inlaw, Charrie Kingery; brother-inlaw, Ronnie Hunter; and aunt, Leria Goodman. Survivors include her husband Tommy Hunter; son, Alan Hunter of Jessievill­e; daughter, Susanna Gayle Crow (Jeff) of New DeRoche; brothers, David Kingery, J.C. –––––❖––––– SHERIDAN — Jimmie Lee Pearce, 74, died on August 14, 2017 at his home in Sheridan, Arkansas. He was born on August 23, 1942 in Pine Bluff to Jim and Virginia Pearce. He was a member of the U.S. Army. He was a retired master electricia­n and attended White Hall High School. He enjoyed hunting, running dogs, fishing, playing with his grandbabie­s, gardening and being outdoors.

–––––❖––––– DALLAS — Margaret Earle Pugh passed away in the early morning August 14, 2017 at her home in Dallas, Texas. She was born March 31, 1951, in Hamburg, Arkansas, and graduated from Hamburg High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society.

She is predecease­d by her mother and father, Mary Margaret Pugh and George Butler Pugh Sr.; and her life partner, William Solomene of Dallas, Texas. Margaret Earle Pugh is survived by her brothers, Griff Gregory (Bob Pugh) of Scottsdale, Arizona, and George Butler Pugh Jr. of Saint Simons Island, Georgia; her two nieces, Ashley Pugh Carroll of Macon, Georgia, and Melissa Pugh Anderson of Richmond, Virginia; as well as many cousins scattered across the country.

A 1973 graduate of Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, Margaret Earle spent her career as an internatio­nal flight attendant for American Airlines, residing for a decade in New York City, New York, and later in Dallas, Texas, until her retirement. Throughout her career she enjoyed traveling around the world and making many friends along the way. Among her closest friends were Carol Bunderla, Kathy Lust and Rosiland Wade.

Margaret Earle’s life will be remembered in a public graveside ceremony at Pinewood Memorial Park on Friday, August 18, 2017, at 11 a.m. She will be interred beside her mother and father. Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, Arkansas. (www.jonesservi­ce.com).
