McGEHEE— Sadie Holt, the 15-year-old country girl, who was assaulted by a negro at her home near Wilmot Saturday night, today failed to identify a negro who was trailed and captured near here at 4 o’clock yesterday by Head Warden Higgins of the Cummins convict farm and two trusties. The negro had been trailed since Monday afternoon by bloodhounds in charge of Warden Higgins, and answered the description given by residents of Wilmot, except that he wore a hat instead of a cap.

FAYETTEVILLE — Hollis Hill, 27, of Fayetteville was killed in his mobile home here about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and a massive manhunt was underway near West Fork (Washington County), about 10 miles south of here, for a suspect. Washington County Sheriff Arthur B. Davidson said another man, Lester Niman of Fayetteville, was missing and possibly had been killed by the same man who killed Hill.

Gay activists tried to pay the Rev. W.N. Otwell’s way out of the Little Rock Jail on Saturday, but the fundamentalist preacher refused to go. Otwell is the Baptist preacher from Nacogdoches, Texas, who has been arrested twice for trying to enter services at Gov. Bill Clinton’s Little Rock church. “I think it was really silly that they’d even attempt to pay our fine,” Otwell, 55, said in a telephone interview from the jail Saturday. “That wasn’t done with the right attitude. They did this as a political ploy and a ruse to look good. If I had 100 years, they’d never bail me out, that group.”

Maybe it seemed like it couldn’t get worse for Warren Hudson Jr. He had already been charged as an accomplice in more than a dozen Little Rock robberies. He was wanted in his native Wisconsin in connection with a fatal shooting. And still on Wednesday, things got worse. Little Rock police charged him as the second suspect in an Aug. 27 home invasion robbery in which the victim was shot three times in the legs and beaten in the face with the butt of a handgun. Hudson, 19, whom police listed as homeless, was charged with aggravated robbery, first-degree battery and theft of property.
