GRENADA, Miss. — Marie Golding went to be with her Lord on October 7, 2017 after a courageous extended battle with congestive heart failure. She was born near Hazen, Ark., on February 9, 1929 and was preceded in death by her parents, William and Vesta Pitts Moore, five sisters and one brother, plus her husband of 62 years, Powell H. Golding. She is survived by one daughter, Susan Valentine (Terry) of Columbiana, Ala.; one son, Pat Golding (Charla) of Little Rock, Ark.; two grandchild­ren, Buddy Rainer Valentine of Gulf Shores, Ala., and Louis Parker of Richmond BC, CA; two step-grandchild­ren, Chuck Bussell and Catrina Hugg and four great-grandchild­ren all of Benton, Ark., plus a host of nieces and nephews.

After her marriage in 1950, she moved to Winona, Miss., where she became a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, teaching the Senior Ladies Sunday School Class for years. She worked for Dr. Luther P. Crull as his Office Manager/Assistant for 19 years, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. She resided in Little Rock, Ark., for a short time, and moved to Grenada, Miss., in 1989, where she became a faithful member of the First Baptist Church.

Marie was the consummate loving wife, mother, grandmothe­r, sister, Sunday School teacher, and an excellent cook who enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends and was naturally hospitable. She also enjoyed gardening and fishing on Grenada Lake with Powell.

Visitation will be on October 11, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with the service to follow at noon in their chapel. Honorary pallbearer­s

are Sykes Wood, Wiley Prewitt, Bud Golding, Ed Golding, Tommy Golding, Tee Golding and Haywood O’Neal. Pallbearer­s are Tim Golding, Will Golding, Rainer Valentine, Parker Lashbrook, Wyatt Bussell and Jacob Golding.

–––––❖––––– TEXARKANA, Texas — Dorothy Turner Cooley, 94, of Texarkana, Texas passed away October 8, 2017 in Texarkana, Texas. She was born November 24, 1922 in Ogden, Ark., to John and Maggie Turner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Major William D. Cooley, Jr. and four brothers, Irvin Turner, James (Chief) Turner, George Turner, and John Turner Jr.
