2017. She was born August 21,

1947 in Marvel, Arkansas to the late Ira and Annie Hill Young.

She was retired from Pulaski

County School

District after teaching at

North Pulaski for over 20 years and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Jacksonvil­le.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Darrell Brockinton; and grandson, Dustin Brockinton. –––––❖––––– DANIEL LYNN McQUEEN of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on October 8, 2017, surrounded by his family after a valiant battle with pancreatic and liver cancer.

Danny was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on December 14,

1941, to Walter McQueen and Doris Brown McQueen.

Danny attended Ouachita Baptist University and was a member of the Heritage Club at Second Baptist Church.

He worked many years for Missouri Pacific Railroad/Union Pacific Railroad and then at the Little Rock Wastewater Utility – where he gained many special friends, including Billy, Ava, Steve, and Tim.

Danny loved hunting and fishing, and telling tall tales of his adventures. He recently returned from his annual fishing trip to Canada with special friend, Buddy Emerson.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Danny is survived by his wife of 54 years, Peggy Nickell McQueen; daughters, Susan McQueen Raines (Brian) of Bentonvill­e, Ark., Melanie McQueen Block (Jake) of Nashville, Tenn., and Patti McQueen Hickam (Dan) of Little Rock, Ark.; his brother Brock McQueen (Ann) of Little Rock, Ark.; nephew, Ian McQueen (Erin); niece, Megan McQueen Crow (Nick); the grandchild­ren he loved so dearly, Olivia Claire Raines, Ashlyn Grace Raines, Benjamin Wyatt Block, Owen David Block, and Brandon Elliott Hickam; and special neighbor, Mary Maier.

The family would like to extend their thanks to all the wonderful staff at CARTI, especially Dr. Grace Raja and Ashley; the care team on the 10th floor; ICU at Baptist Medical Center; and the many angels that prepared liver and onions, sent cards, and delivered homemade cookies.

Madie graduated from Beebe High School. She was a cheerleade­r and an athlete, winning many basketball trophies. Madie survived the Great Depression, met and married the love of her life Mike. They had two children during World War II and had two more children later in life. She was an avid Razorback basketball and football fan and an accomplish­ed cook. She was a devoted Catholic attending St. Patrick Catholic Church for over 50 years. She served in the Ladies Guild, the Altar Society, and the adult choir. Madie made Cursillos in Christiani­ty, and was involved in several mission trips to Mexico.

7, 2017. He was born October 4, 1984 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Annette Jenkins and Danny

Glenn. In 2011, he married Jessica Shoemaker and together they raised their two daughters,

Desirae and Kayden. Justin worked as a

CDL driver and mechanic. He was known to be able to fix just about anything. Justin loved making memories with his family, riding motorcycle­s, making friends wherever he went, working on his Bronco, and making people laugh. He is best remembered for always being willing to lend a helping hand to others.

He leaves his wife, Jessica; their daughters, Desirae and Kayden; his dad and step-mom, Danny and Susan Glenn; his mother and step-dad, Annette Jenkins and Jason Maxwell; grandmothe­r, Pat Green; sister and brother-in-law, Brittany and Tony Calvi; uncle, Dale Jenkins; father and mother-in-law, Charles and Judy Shoemaker; sister and brother-in-law, Kaylee and Tim Creed; brother and sister-in-law, James and Billie Jean Shoemaker; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of family members and friends. –––––❖––––– BISMARCK — Ula L. Webb, 100, of Bismarck, Arkansas, passed away October 8, 2017. She was born November 11, 1916, in Fannie, Arkansas, to William and Etter (Cass) Abbott. Ula moved to Hot Springs when she was three and lived here 81 years before

moving to Bismarck in 2001. She was of the Baptist faith.

Ula was a loving, hard working mother. She was a waitress, a cook, and worked at New Berry until they closed. Ula loved raising vegetables and flowers, which she arranged. Ula also ran a parking business from age 60 to 84.

Ula raised two sons, Ollie J. Trout and William K. Trout. William preceded her death May 1, 2016. Survivors include six grandchild­ren, Pamela Hurley, Anita Douglass (Scott), Diane Garza (Henry), William H. Trout; great-grandchild­ren, Nicole Bissell (Matthew), Jennifer Hurley, Derek Douglass, Steven Garza, Michael Garza; great-great-grandchild­ren, Alexandra Bissell, Hunter Bissell, Isabella Bissell, Serenity Bissell, McKayla Garza, Madison Harza, Mason Garza; younger sisters, both in their 90s, Willie Mae Roland and Jessie Price.

Sue loved gardening, as well as cooking, especially for her family. She was an avid Razorbacks fan and a loyal supporter of the Conway Wampus Cats.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde Coburn; and her brother, Bill Raymick. Faye retired in 1995 from Southweste­rn Bell after 30 years of service. She was a devoted daughter, loving wife and beloved aunt, who will be missed by many. –––––❖––––– FAYETTEVIL­LE — Jane Elizabeth Nichols Steele died October 4, 2017. She was the daughter of Guerdon Nichols and Dorothy McLeod Nichols. She married and settled in Little Rock where she raised her four children.

She was the first female teaching assistant in Little Rock University’s History Department. She was the leader of the first integrated Girl Scout troop in Little Rock, and an active member of the League of Women Voters.

She co-founded Wilderness Trails, a non-profit that took high school students on summer trips to the Appalachia­ns, Colorado Rockies and Minnesota Boundary Waters. These adventures were always memorable. She took many canoe trips down the Buffalo River, starting the trip with the warning “Don’t rush to Rush!”

Jane lived in Colorado and Arizona, engrossed in the culture and history of the west. She rafted several western rivers, including the Colorado. She drove her camper alone up the Alaska-Canada Highway and back.

She designed a cabin on Beaver Lake and built it with the help of family and friends. Jane loved a good project or destinatio­n. Finally, Jane returned to Fayettevil­le and the house she grew up in.

J.D. served with honor in the U.S Navy for 20 years aboard the USS Breckenrid­ge (TAP176), Hancock (CV19), and during the Vietnam War the USS Midway (CV41); the Windham County (LST1170), where he earned the Navy Achievemen­t Medal with “V” for Valor for saving the lives of the crew aboard a river boat; the Blue Ridge (LCC19), where he served as a member of the commission­ing crew, Duluth (LPD6), and Thomaston (LSD28). During Vietnam, he also helped bring home our POWs after their release. JD enjoyed fishing, traveling; he loved spending time with family and friends with always a story to be told.

In addition to his wife, JD is survived by his children, JD (Kathy) Ball of Jacksonvil­le, Fla., James Ball of New Orleans, La., David (Spring) Ball of Arnaudvill­e, La., Mark (Colleen) Ball of Bryant, Ark. and his step-children, Sandra (John) Spicer of Hot Springs Village, Ark. and John Kosin of Pineville, La. Steve was an accomplish­ed business man who was the primary business owner of Mountain Home Manufactur­ing, a metal fabricatin­g company that has been distributi­ng products worldwide since 1975.

Steve was a member and also an elder of the Christian Congregati­on of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Mountain Home. His favorite hobbies were landscapin­g around his home, spending time with family and friends, and telling people what God has planned for the future.

Steve is survived by his wife, Anne Fundyk of Mountain Home, two sons, Daniel Fundyk (Karen) of Mountain Home and Ronald Fundyk (Melody) of Mountain Home, one daughter, Marianne Knight (Jackson) of Brockwell, Arkansas. Steven is also survived by six grandchild­ren, three great-grandchild­ren, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Steven and Eva Fundyk, two brothers, Peter Fundyk and Alex Fundyk, and one grandchild, Jason Fundyk.

He was a proud firefighte­r who served 5 years in the Pine Bluff Fire Department before moving to Dallas, Texas. He served 25 years in the Dallas Fire Department, retiring in 1980 as a captain and head of the training division. Mr. Gray was a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church in Pine Bluff.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Edward Gray. PINE BLUFF — Cecil Earl Smith, 79, of Pine Bluff, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017, at his home. Mr.

Smith was born

June 26, 1938, in Fordyce, Arkansas, to the late

Floyd and Clara

Smith. He was reared and received his education in Fordyce and graduated from Fordyce

High School in

1956. He proudly served his country in the Arkansas National

Guard (39th Infantry) for eleven years obtaining the rank of Sergeant.

He started his work career at Fordyce Lumber Company before becoming a brakeman/conductor with the Cotton Belt Railroad, where he would retire 40 years later in 2000. Mr. Smith was a member of Masonic Lodge #160, a Shriner, and a member of Bethel #2 Missionary Baptist Church.

He was an avid gardener, fisherman, hunter, serving as a President of Ward Deer Club for 19 years. He was a proud follower of the Redbugs and the Razorbacks, having been a season ticket holder for many years.

Mr. Smith was also an avid trav-

eler with the Crown Club. Through the years, he also attended several Cotton Bowls and SEC Basketball Conference­s with his wife, Patsy. He was a generous and loving husband, father, grandfathe­r, great-grandfathe­r, and friend.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Patsy of 57 years; son, Joey Smith; daughter, Tamara (Ted) Harden; grandchild­ren, Ashley (Russell) Johnson, Kattie Smith, and Evan Smith; great-grandchild, Gatlin Johnson; three sisters, Betty (James) Hardman, Bonnie (Billy) Jones and Sandy (Billy) Rothwell; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

VAN BUREN — W. Noel Hobson, 85, of Van Buren, passed away on October 7, 2017 at home. He was born on January 29, 1932 near Eudora, Arkansas to Claud Evan Hobson and Nancy Juanita Allen Hobson. He had three brothers, Elton, Melvin and Ralph, and two sisters, Myra and Margie.

He married Ruth Elizabeth Rash in Parkdale, Arkansas on February 19, 1954 and was immediatel­y drafted by the United States Army where he served at 3rd Army Headquarte­rs, Fort McPherson, Georgia as a Counter-Intelligen­ce Corps Agent.

Noel graduated with honors from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri and worked many years providing specialize­d systems to the manufactur­ing sector before starting his own business in 1986, from which he retired.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; four children: Randall and his wife Melanie, Michael and his wife Deborah, Craig and his wife Melanie, and Rebecca Moates and her husband William; 22 grandchild­ren and 14 great-grandchild­ren; one brother, Melvin Hobson, two sisters, Myra Twitchell and Margie Murphy, as well as many nephews and nieces.

Pallbearer­s are his grandsons: Justin, Jonathan, Caleb, Micah and Joshua Hobson and Will Moates. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, October 12, 2017 in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Marie Wages, she was born on

May 30, 1949, in Monahans, Texas. Patsy was a retired bookkeeper from the Arkansas State Land Commission. She fought a hard battle with Alzheimer’s Disease, but is now healed and doing what she liked most, dancing in the streets of heaven.

In addition to her parents, Patsy was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Delle Summers of Rogers, Arkansas and her brother, David Woodall of Hot Springs, Arkansas. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Steve Gafner of Vilonia, Arkansas, her grand-daughter, Mattison Gafner of Vilonia, Arkansas, her sisters, Margaret Crowson of Midland, Texas, Linda Ann York of Dallas, Texas and Dorothy Gladden of Houston, Texas, two brothers, Odys Woodall, of Ira, Texas and Jimmy Wages of Las Vegas, Nevada, and a host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
