Brown, was born August 21,

1935, in Little

Rock, Ark. He accepted Christ as his Lord and

Savior and lived his life with a motto of “Stay

Out of Trouble and Mind Your

Own Business”. He was active in the East End Social Club. Papa was educated in the Little Rock Public School District. He graduated high school from Dunbar High School in Little Rock. He enjoyed an illustriou­s career as a supervisor with the Winburn Tile Company as well as supervisor with the Pirelli Rubber and Tire Company for many, many years. He also enjoyed working at Norton Printing in North Little Rock, Ark., after retiring from Pirelli Rubber and Tire Company.

Papa united in holy matrimony to Doris Janette Washington, and to this union three sons and two daughters were born. He later united in marriage with Arbra Frances Williette and in this union raised one daughter. Papa leaves to cherish his memories three sons, Curtis Brown (Betty), Alonzo Brown (Valerie) and Christophe­r all of Little Rock, Ark.; two daughters, Deborah Williams (Al) of Carrollton, Texas, and Sonya Hall of Little Rock, Ark., and a step-daughter Sherrie Collier (Darryl) of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Perry Brown Amato (Allen) of McKinney, Texas, and Evelyn Brown Lewis of Memphis, Tenn.; 13 grandchild­ren; eight great-grandchild­ren. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to cherish his memory.

Mrs. MINNIE “ARTILLER” CANADY CALDWELL, 94, of Little Rock died November 5,

2017. She was born August

14, 1923 in the

Conway County Community to

Isaac and Cynthia (Mitchem)

Canady of Hattievill­e, Arkansas.

She accepted

Christ at a young age and attended Center School in Hattievill­e and moved to Little Rock to pursue a higher education at Dunbar High School. Artiller met and married I.V. Caldwell. Shortly thereafter, he accepted his call to ministry, and together they worked hard and reared their children with discipline, a love for God and a good work ethic. They were married for 68 years.

Upon the arrival of their grandchild­ren, Artiller became “Big Mama” to everyone. Big Mama was a dedicated servant, faithful wife, and loving mother. After her husband’s retirement from the pastorate, they worshipped at St. Peter’s Rock, and later joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor C. Dennis Edwards II where they would each serve the remainder of their days. Mrs. Caldwell was an active member of the Mothers’ Board. In 2017, she was honored by Robinson Omnimedia as a woman of wisdom with the Gospel Celebratio­n of Wisdom Award.

Mother Caldwell leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Allene Coates Davis of Oakland, California; and her sons: Gerald Caldwell (Gracie) and Minister Thurman Caldwell (Marcy) of Kansas City, Missouri; and Dr. Carlton Caldwell (Aurita) of St. Louis, Missouri. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. I.V. Caldwell, and sons: Ivory and John Caldwell and all her siblings.

–––––❖––––– MICHAEL JOHN CALLAHAN, 67, of Little Rock, passed away November 5, 2017. He was born to Ted & Evelyn Callahan on May 16, 1950 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Michael loved cooking and going to the firing range. He was a member of the National Rifle Associatio­n. He loved researchin­g ancestry and genealogy. He had a lifelong interest in military history. He was very proud to have served in the Headquarte­rs Company 212th Signal Battalion, Arkansas Army National Guard. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Little Rock.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Karen Cox Callahan; his son, Jeff (Pam) Callahan; his brother, Dr. Doug (Cathy) Callahan; and his nine loving cats.

–––––❖––––– FRANCES B. JONES, 84, of Little Rock, passed away peacefully at the Arkansas Heart Hospital on November 2, 2017. She was born January 7, 1933 in Newport, Arkansas to Clifford and Ruth Pelley Jones. She graduated from Arkansas State University and with a Master’s Degree, began her career as a teacher. She taught at many schools around Central Arkansas before retiring. She then began her career at the Arkansas Gazette working in the printing press department and was a member of the Communicat­ions Workers Associatio­n. She retired from the Gazette, but continued in the journalism field.

Frances also belonged to the Dog Writers’ Associatio­n of America, and wrote several columns and stories about dogs. Her passion for dogs led her to join the Arkansas Kennel Club where she showed and also judged many dog shows. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Jewel Chapter #362. Frances enjoyed reading about the latest medical knowledge, learning about her genealogy, and raising awareness for Gastro Paresis and Cleliac Disease.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Melissa Magness South and a niece Cindy South Conway. She left behind a nephew, Byron South (Dara) and a niece, Patricia Storf (Andy), five half-sisters, several great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews, her dear friends; Betsy Hall, Phyllis and Stephanie Jira, and cherished neighbors, the Corney family as well as many friends and family.

Lane. He moved to Little Rock at an early age.

He graduated from Central

High School May 1944 and was immediatel­y drafted into the U.S. Navy, serving with the Seabees.

John joined IBM’s service team in March 1952, where he served as an instructor for the Executive and Selective typewriter­s. He retired from IBM in 1987 after 35 years of service, and attained the position of territory supervisor in the Joplin, Missouri, office.

John loved his church family at South Highland Baptist Church in Little Rock and was faithful to attend as long as his health permitted. At one time he served as a church treasurer.

John was a multi-talented man who raised a beautiful garden, loved to fish, make miniature airplanes from coke cans and travel in his motorhome. He traveled the United States, the Holy Land and Canada for several years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Reba O’Kelley Lane; two brothers, Jack and Roy Lane; two sisters, Juanita Bittle and Lola Gray; and stepson, Robert Dale Santifer Jr. He is survived by his wife Shirley of 26 years; daughter Allene Lane (Dave) of Hattiesbur­g, Mississipp­i; son, Mark Lane (Lisa) of Rural Hall, North Carolina; sister, Katy Reynolds of Little Rock; step-son, Darrell Santifer of Taylor, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. John was also known as “Papa John” to his five grandchild­ren and six great-grandchild­ren that he loved dearly. He also leaves behind his closest companion, a blue-eyed Siamese cat named “Lucky”. She looks for him every day.

–––––❖––––– MARY DELORES GUNTER MAGBY passed away Monday, November 6, 2017, in Hospice Care in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Laverne Gunter, and most recently, her loving husband of 66 years, Bill J. Magby. She leaves behind her daughter, Maribeth Magby of Sherwood; sons, Mark Magby of Atlanta, Georgia, and Michael Magby (Rita) of Knoxville, Tennessee; and her sister, Gayle Rule Gunter of Little Rock; and a grandson, KC.

She retired as office manager for Haverty’s Furniture Company, but more importantl­y she was a devoted wife and mother. She had a long history of health issues for the past 11½ years and was a strong and determined fighter and survivor. She was a walking miracle to those who knew her. She was a faithful and loving servant of Our Lord and a member of Sylvan Hills Community Church for over 67 years.

JUDY DIANNE WALKER, 69, of Little Rock, died peacefully with sunlight on her face on November 6, 2017. She was the daughter of Minice

Butler Huffman and Clara Leona Chevallier Huffman, who preceded her in death, along with brothers,

Mike and David.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, William Thomas “Tommy” Walker Sr.; son, William Thomas “Will” Walker Jr., and wife, Lisa; and daughters, Cara Judith Connolly, and husband, Patrick, and Alice Dianne Price, and husband, Chris; grandchild­ren, William Thomas III and Caroline Faye Walker, Walker Curtis and Ellie Fay Connolly, and Simone Jolie and Laurel Lennon Price; sisters, Mary Greer and Jean Stevens; and brothers, Fred Wayne, Ronald, and Hidle Huffman; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Walker was born in Jonesville, La., raised in Tulip, Ark., and made her home in Little Rock. Judy was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where, as church secretary, she met her groom. A homemaker, she had an outgoing personalit­y, was an accomplish­ed pianist, loved people, especially children, animals, music, gardening, and the outdoors. Many came to know her through her warm, inviting smile. Her family wishes to thank Angels of Arkansas for the loving and compassion­ate care.

She’s survived by her devoted husband Romano Biancardi; her sons, Randy Doughty and wife Lynda Kay, and Jeff Doughty and wife Leslie; four grandchild­ren, Morgan Roberts, Jonathan Doughty, Sera Doughty, and Blake Doughty; four great-grandchild­ren, Gavyn, Blakely, Saylor, and Oaklyn Roberts; her sisters, Ann Major, Edith and husband Harold Isom, Mary and husband Terry Howell, Frankie Butler, Janet and husband Dick Plunkett, Ruby and husband Curtis Faulkner, and Helen and husband Don Hughes; 18 nieces and nephews, and other family and friends. –––––❖––––– BENTON — Caroline Virginia Dodge (Sis), 95, of Benton was welcomed home by our Lord on

Nov. 8, 2017. Caroline was born 2/28/22 to Claude Terry and Eda Gschwend in Pocahontas,

Ark. Caroline lost her first husband, Melvin Hilburn, in WWII in April, 1945. She was married to Adrain Dodge (A.O.), a WWII vet, on his birthday on 3/3/1946. The Dodges and Terrys were both large farm families living in Halliday (outside Paragould), Ark. A.O. & Caroline moved to Benton in 1952 with their only child, Randy, so A.O. could work at ALCOA, and lived there 60+ years. Caroline loved to cook and bake and get together with family & friends. There were many weekend and holiday parties, catfish fries, and highly competitiv­e Pitch card games between family & friends over the years. Caroline and Randy were members of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Benton. Caroline was also a faithful member of VFW Auxiliary.

Caroline spent the last several years in Southridge Village Assisted Living in Conway. She was preceded in death by her husband A.O. Dodge, her parents, and eight siblings. Survivors include son, Randy Dodge (Wendy) of Fayettevil­le; grandchild­ren, Jennifer Heiby (Chris) of Louisville, Ky., David Dodge (Susan) of College Station, Texas, Anna Beaulieu (Jeff) and Donna Dodge-Sharp (Scott) of Fayettevil­le; sister, Agnes Pierceall of Jonesboro; and sister-in-law, Ida Terry of Phoenix, Ariz.; and many nieces & nephews.

He was born on February 28,

1935, to Paul and Julia Bennett of Judsonia.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Winnifred Bennett and his sister Hazel Wiggs. He is survived by daughter, Sharon Euler (Calvin) of Cabot; and sons, Mark (Patti) of Little Rock and Larry (Karen) of Carrollton, Texas; and his brother, Paul Bennett, Jr. of Judsonia; as well as eight grandchild­ren: Matthew Euler, Jonathan Euler, Melissa Bishop, Kyle Bennett, Ashley Bennett, Caitlin Elkins, Elizabeth Bennett and Andrew Bennett.

He worked 40 years for First

Electric Cooperativ­e in Jacksonvil­le as a constructi­on supervisor. After his retirement he became an excellent stump grinder and trapper. He loved the outdoors hunting quail, squirrels and deer and spent many days fishing with Winnie. He enjoyed gardening allowing the family to reap the benefits of fresh vegetables, strawberri­es and plum jelly. He delighted in sharing items from the garden with friends and relatives. He and Winnie loved playing bridge with their friends, though he was never quite as good as she at the game. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church, Cabot. He served on the board of Cabot Public Schools for 20 years and used his constructi­on expertise to the advantage of the district for numerous buildings on the campus. He was a dedicated servant to the public in that capacity. The family wants to acknowledg­e Greystone Nursing and Rehab and Kindred Hospice for their service and love shown to Dad.

–––––❖––––– CARLISLE — Frances Louise Dunlap Hall, 83, of Carlisle went to be with the Lord on November 5, 2017. Louise was born in Lonoke, Ark., to Rob and Minnie Chambers Dunlap. She was a Southern Baptist and a member of Immanuel Baptist in Carlisle. Louise was retired from Remington Arms after 28 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two infant brothers; sons, Pastor Joe Hall and Charley Hall; grandson B.J. Hall and granddaugh­ter, Chasity Jackson. 1940, in Bronson, Florida, to

James and Cassie Lee (Hardee) Jerrels. He graduated from Bronson High

School in 1958 and then served his country in the Air Force. He met and married the love of his life Cheryl in 1964. In 1975 he graduated with honors from the University of Arizona with a bachelors in Landscape Architectu­re. After graduating he began working for the US Forest Service where he worked until his retirement in 1998. Hardee was a member of National Park Church and served many years as a deacon and elder. He loved God, his family and friends with all his heart. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, grilling and laughing till his sides hurt.

Hardee was preceded in death by his parents and brother-inlaw, Joe Beal. He was an award winning sales representa­tive, and inducted into the Arkansas Furniture Associatio­n Hall of Fame. He retired with 22 years’ experience from the Hooker Furniture Company in 2004. While living in Jonesboro he and his wife Bernice were members of the Southwest Church of Christ. He loved to cook and while he was able to he served on the Cooking Team at Southwest Church of Christ.

Dr. Albright was born on March

1, 1934, in Little

Rock, Arkansas.

He graduated from Clarksvill­e

High School.

Dr. Albright’s undergradu­ate studies were at the University of the Ozarks and he graduated from the University of Arkansas Medical School. He served his radiology residency at Ochsner Foundation. Dr. Albright joined Dr. Abner Landry in his radiology practice in 1968, which became the Landry-Albright Radiology Group, Inc. at Mercy Hospital in New Orleans. Dr. Albright retired in 1992.

He served in the United States Navy. Dr. Albright was a member of the American Medical Associatio­n, the Louisiana State Medical Society and the New Orleans Museum of Art. Dr. Albright filled many roles at the Museum. In addition to his longtime status as a Fellow, he also served for a time as a board member, and made substantia­l and generous gifts of art works to both the department of photograph­s, and the modern and contempora­ry art department.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his longtime partner, Michael P. Myers.

They moved to Illinois where Vern met his calling to be a successful salesman for Swift & Co. He then leveraged his skills for Prudential Insurance where they promoted and relocated him to San Antonio in the ’60s. While in San Antonio Vern participat­ed in the Turtle Creek Optimist Club and the Helotes VFW. Vern also started his own insurance agency, The Morrow Agency, as well as purchasing and improving Flagstop Cafe’ in Fair Oaks.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughters, Genia Belzung and Lisa Edmondson; grandchild­ren, Dillon Edmondson and Emma Belzung; sister, Fern; sister-in-law, Johnnie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 9, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary in San Antonio, Texas www. porterlori­ng.com. Visitation will also be held Sunday, November 12, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe.
