BROWNWOOD, Texas — Horace Lee Pruitt, age 89, passed away

Nov. 19, 2017, at Senior Care

Living Center in Brownwood,

Texas. He was the husband of

June Mayfield

Pruitt of Brownwood.

Born in Searcy Ark., he was the son of the Rev. John R. Pruitt and Sallie B. Pruitt. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1963 from Ouachita Baptist University where he also worked for a number of years. He later worked at Howard Payne University and Wayland Baptist University where he retired.

He pastored a number of Baptist Churches and was over Camp Paron Arkansas, a ministry of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Brownwood, Texas.

He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also loved spending time with his grandchild­ren fishing, hunting and sports.

He is survived by his wife, June Mayfield Pruitt of Brownwood; a son, Robert and wife Cindy Pruitt of Bridgeport, Texas; step-daughters, Sheryl and Mike Kirchner of Richardson, Texas, Mechelle and husband Dinnis Sanchez of Brownwood, Texas; grandchild­ren, Jennifer Southerlan­d, John Robert Pruitt, Josh Aaron Clark, Michael Kirchner, Matthew Kirchner, Corey Sanchez, Ethan Sanchez, Brittany Zaloudik, Jason Zaloudik, Sky Zaloudik; and great-grandchild, Libby Southerlan­d; brothers, Dennis Pruitt, Hulon Pruitt, Hollis Pruit; and sister, Pearlene Kitts. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alberta Pruitt; daughter, Gail Pruitt; step-daughter, Julie Matthews; a brother, Arlis Pruitt; and a sister, Geraldine Hawaietz.

A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Brownwood, Texas, and a private service will in Antioch, Ark. Service arrangemen­ts are pending with Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
