Jones told Morris and coaches Dustin Fry and Barry Lunney Jr. of his decision before going public with his pledge.

He announced his decision on Twitter and said: “At this time I would like to announce where I will become a student-athlete in June. It was a difficult decision. I would like to thank Coach Morris, the Arkansas coaching staff, and the Arkansas fans for being so supportive to me during my time of being recruited by Arkansas. After a lot of praying and thinking I have decided that at this time it is in my best interest to commit to the University of Notre Dame. I’m very excited to enroll there as a student-athlete and I will be signing with Notre Dame on February 7th. I will always love Arkansas and I hope that everyone here will respect my decision with this next stage of my life.”
