Focus on positive

-

Someone once told me about a dream that a man had who had lost his daughter at a young age. In the dream, a group of children holding lighted candles was singing praises to God. All but the father’s daughter. He walked to her and asked, “Honey, why isn’t your candle lit?” In her sweet, innocent voice, she replied, “Daddy, your tears keep putting it out.”

The man woke the next day and visited his daughter’s grave. He was not sad; in fact, he felt more at peace than he had in a very long time. He walked to her grave, looked down and said with a smile on his face, “I love you, darling. Thank you.” Then he walked away, smiling and lighthearted. He had finally realized after months of mourning that his daughter was in heaven with God. All of this time she had been wondering why her father was so sad when she was in such a good place.

Live your life as though [your loved ones] were standing in your shadow watching your every move. What would they think? Would they do it? Do not be afraid to follow feelings even though they may seem strange at first. Just try it and see where it leads you. When one door is closed, five more are opened.

Don’t only go to your lost loved ones’ graves when you are sad. Stop by and say hi sometimes. Let them know that you are doing all right and you will see them again someday. Focus on the positive things that they brought to your life and be thankful to God that he gave you those good times because of his unwavering love for you. DAVID MILLS Jonesboro
