SEARCY —Residents of the Clearwater neighborhood, 20 miles northwest of Searcy, bring news of the ravages committed by wolves in that vicinity during the recent snow. Sheep and hogs have been carried away by the wolves, which have been made ravenous and bold by the severe weather. A wolf hunt was started, but at the outset the champion wolf hunting dog was drowned in-crossing the river, so the trip was postponed. Another hunt will take place within a few days, as the wolves continue to carry off a choice porker or a fine sheep every few days.

A witness said the 10:45 p.m. shooting stemmed from a quarrel between Tyce, 24, and his killer about two state prison inmates. “They were arguing about two people in the pen having sex,” the witness, who asked not to be identified, said.
