WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Slow start dooms Tech

Lyrik Williams scored 13 points as Arkansas Tech University was unable to overcome a slow first-quarter start and lost 7552 to Henderson State University on Thursday in Arkadelphi­a.

Pink Jones led the Reddies (9-4, 5-2 Great American Conference) with 26 points. Haleigh Henson added 18 points, and Hailey Estes had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The Golden Suns fell to 9-2, 5-2.

Key’s 33 points power SAU past Harding Southern Arkansas University senior guard Sue Key scored a career-high 33 points to lead the Muleriders to a 65-58 victory over Harding on Thursday in Great American Conference play at the W.T. Watson Athletic Center.

Harding (5-10, 1-6 Great American Conference) remained winless in six road games this season. SAU (3-10, 2-5) earned its first home conference victory of the season, tying a season high with seven three-pointers.

ATU falls to Henderson State

Alex Brown and Harris Brown scored 20 points each, and Montrell Williams grabbed 11 rebounds for Arkansas Tech University in a 106-96 loss to Henderson State on Thursday in Arkadelphi­a.

The Wonder Boys fell to 10-3, 4-3 GAC, and the Reddies improved to 7-6, 2-5.

3-pointers propel SAU past Harding Southern Arkansas University made nine first-half three-pointers and led by 26 points at halftime in an 88-55 victory over Harding on Thursday at the W.T. Watson Athletic Center in Magnolia.

Southern Arkansas improved to 6-7, 2-5 GAC, and Harding remained winless at 0-12, 0-7.
