- BILLY WOODS

WYNNE — West Memphis used a 21-1 run in the second half en route to a 72-47 victory over Wynne in 6A/5A3 Conference play.

The Blue Devils (14-2, 7-1) led 48-36 with 1:37 left in the third quarter before turning the game into a rout.

Sophomore forward Chris Moore and senior Curtis Washington scored eight points each during the spurt that saw the Blue Devils put the game away with a 68-39 lead with 4:42 left.

“That was probably the best spurt of ball we played tonight,” West Memphis Coach Marcus Brown said. “We pressured the ball well on defense and played a fast tempo.”

The Blue Devils led 38-26 at halftime despite having six players with two fouls at halftime.

After Wynne (5-11, 2-6) cut the West Memphis lead to 3831 to open the third quarter, the Blue Devils responded.

A three-point play by senior swingman Zachary Byrd, who along with Washington scored 14 points, with 5:50 to play in the third quarter ignited the Blue Devis’ run.

West Memphis led 55-37 at the end of three quarters, then scored the first 13 points of the fourth quarter to end the suspense.

Moore led West Memphis with 18 points and 6 rebounds while senior guard C.J. Prackett and reserve Cameron Fuqua each scored 9.

Wynne got 14 points from Cameron Clark. Teammate Devon Light scored 11.
