Touring Cabaret comes to Fayettevil­le, old chum

Roundabout Theatre Company brings its national touring production of Cabaret (music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, book by Joe Masteroff, based on John Van Druten’s 1951 play I Am a Camera, adapted in turn from a short novel by Christophe­r Isherwood) to Fayettevil­le’s Walton Arts Center, 495 W. Dickson St., with performanc­es at 8 p.m. Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 and 7:30 p.m. Jan. 21. It’s part of the center’s Procter & Gamble Broadway Series.

Spiritual ensemble

The American Spiritual Ensemble’s program will range from opera and spirituals to Broadway in two Arkansas concerts this week:

Civil rights photos

“Danny Lyon: Memories of the Southern Civil Rights Movement” will be on display Tuesday-April 14 in the Windgate Gallery, Center for Humanities and Arts, University of Arkansas-Pulaski Technical College Main Campus, 3000 W. Scenic Drive, North Little Rock. Lyon’s photograph­s captured compelling moments from the Civil Rights Movement, including the March on Washington in 1963 and the aftermath of the Sept. 15, 1963, 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham, Ala.

Gallery hours are 10 a.m.6 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free. Visit uaptc.edu/charts.

A 6-8 p.m. Jan. 26 reception in the center’s lobby will also cover a second exhibit, “A Peace of My Mind: American Stories,” a multimedia project focusing on the meaning of peace that includes portrait photos taken by project founder John Noltner, on display in the lobby Jan. 26-Feb. 9. The exhibit features Kathy Webb, vice mayor of the city of Little Rock and executive director of the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance. Lobby hours are 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. Admission to the exhibit and the reception are free. Saxophonis­t Barry McVinney and pianist Tom Cox will perform.

VA documentar­y

MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History, 503 E. Ninth St., Little Rock, will screen the documentar­y film VA: The Human Cost of War, covering the history of the department of Veterans Affairs, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Ozark music festival

A dozen bands, including headliners Tall Tall Trees from Asheville, N.C. (Friday), and Carrie Nation & The Speakeasy from Lawrence, Kan. (Saturday), will perform as part of the 2018 Ozark Mountain Music Festival, Thursday-Jan. 21 at the Basin Park Hotel, 12 Spring St., Eureka Springs.

The lineup will also include Eureka Springs quintet DimeTrip; Fayettevil­le duo Alaina Blake & Dylan Hawf; string band Urban Pioneers; Tulsa trio High-Fi Hillbillie­s; The Creek Rocks duo, part of the former group Big Smith, from Springfiel­d, Mo.; Conway blues-indie rock-Southern roots band American Lions; Kansas City quick-pickin’ string band Grassfed; Miles Over Mountains, a progressiv­e bluegrass band from McHenry, Ill.; and Camptown Ladies, hillbilly swingers Gina Gallina and Melissa Carper, from Eureka Springs.
