Artist selected for Delta Exhibition
CABOT — A work by Cabot artist Tessa Davidson was chosen to be featured in the 60th Delta Exhibition at the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock. Davidson said she is known for her realistic paintings that utilize peculiar imagery to serve as a catalyst for contemplating matters of spiritual faith.
Her oil painting Wings is featured in this year’s exhibition, which runs through Aug. 26 at the Arts Center.
The Delta Exhibition features contemporary artists working in the Mississippi Delta region. Every year, approximately 1,000 entries are submitted by artists working in Arkansas and its border states. This year, a panel of three art professionals selected 52 works for the exhibit. Since its beginnings in 1958, only four other Cabot artists have had their works accepted in the Delta Exhibition.
“I am honored by the opportunity to be included in this exhibition,” Davidson said. “The artwork that was selected features a man from my church who has persevered through many trials. It is a painting about remaining steadfast in the midst of ridicule and trials, and it explores the tension that exists on the journey toward assurance and trust.”
Davidson’s work has been exhibited internationally, and she recently received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the New Hampshire Institute of Art. Davidson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in art education and a Master of Education degree in secondary education from Harding University, as well as a Master of Arts degree in art history from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Davidson teaches as an adjunct art professor at Harding University in Searcy.
