2018.

These are the words left behind as Jeannine wrote them:

May 28, 2012

“I was born September 25,

1932 to Stella and Lester

Word.

“I was married to Robert H. Matthews for 27 years. He passed away in 2001.

“I am survived by three children; Kim Massey - the joy of my life; Michael Massey of Bettendorf, Iowa; and Rebecca Parks of Columbia, Mo. I am also survived by my adopted daughter, Lisa Newby, who has added so much peace and happiness to my time here, and the best sister God could have chosen to walk with me through this life Wanda Brule.

“I want to thank the dearest friend I’ve ever had, Vernitta Love. We’ve worked side by side at our public library for more than eighteen years. I would not be writing this today had she not saved my life years ago. She has taught me much about faith and the joy it brings into one’s life.

“Thank you wonderful people who came into the library as patrons. I have loved all of you and cared about each and every one of you. Your joys were mine as well as your pain and troubles. You have meant so much to me and when I reach my new home, I will still remember.

“I am grateful for the wonderful staff I have been privileged to work with for so many years.

“Now, when you hear that I am dead, don’t you believe it. I will just have changed my address and moved … into the presence of God.” Jeannine Word Matthews Graveside services will be Thursday, July 19, 10 a.m. at Graceland Cemetery.Online condolences: FullerFunerals.com.

–––––❖––––– PANAMA CITY, Fla. — James “Jim” Donald Montgomery, 63, of Panama City, unexpectedly went to be with the Lord on June

28, 2018. He was born March 21,

1955 in Little

Rock, Ark. His spirit is carried on by his daughter and an extended family of relatives and friends from every walk of life.

We were all blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Jim during his short 63 years: how to drive the boat and find the fish; how to be a character in your own right; and live life to the fullest. While often described as a gruff man, Jim never lacked generosity or a good story and he never met a stranger.

He worked in Nuclear Medicine but his true passions were fishing, photography, tinkering and spending time with his friends in Pensacola. He had a lot of accomplishments in life but he always said the one thing he lived for was his pride and joy – his daughter Brooke.

He is survived by his mother, Nona; daughter, Brooke Haley (Jay); brother, Robert (Lori); nieces, Cydney and Erin; and nephew, Landon.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Special Olympics. James’ life was celebrated on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Heritage Funeral Home in Panama City. A private ocean burial will be held at a later date. Those wishing to extend condolences may do so at www.heritagefhllc.com.
