Lonoke County has lots to do throughout the year

Set your reminders, and mark your calenders. The people and organizati­ons of Lonoke County offer a variety of events. From historical crafting to community celebratio­ns, the selection of events should please all members of the family. Whether you are looking for a fun family weekend or just a night on the town, here are some events to check out around the area.

SATURDAYS THROUGH SEPT. 8 CABOT FARMERS MARKET CABOT

Looking for fresh produce and unique, handmade items? The Cabot Farmers Market, at 1122 S. Second St., has a variety of local vendors. From sweet fruits to artisan soaps, the Cabot Farmers Market offers a great opportunit­y to meet local growers and craftsmen.

AUG. 3 FIRST FRIDAY CRAFTS TOLTEC MOUNDS ARCHEOLOGI­CAL STATE PARK

Learn about the craftsmans­hip of Arkansas’ Native American people at this event. Everyone who attends will make and take home a duck decoy assembled from cattail leaves. AUG. 23 DOWNTOWN LONOKE OUTDOOR MOVIE LONOKE

Grab your family, some lawn chairs and a blanket, and check out a movie in the great outdoors. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. and takes place in the First State Bank parking lot at 117 E. Front St. in Lonoke.

AUG. 25 STICKS AND STONES: A SPEAR AND ATLATL WORKSHOP TOLTEC MOUNDS ARCHEOLOGI­CAL STATE PARK

For thousands of years, humans relied upon bows and arrows, spears, atlatls and blowguns to survive. Members of the staff at Toltec Mounds Archeologi­cal State Park give a unique, hands-on opportunit­y to learn how to use these weapons. Participan­ts will make a spear and atlatl to take home. SEPT. 15-22 LONOKE COUNTY FAIR LONOKE

The annual Lonoke County Fair is filled with rides, fair foods and a livestock show. Guests can check out the Rodeo Queen Pageant, crafts, fine arts and many other activities. For more informatio­n, visit www. lonokefair.com.

SEPT. 29 COMMUNITY THEATRE OF CABOT PRESENTS HEE HAW CABOT

OCT. 27 LONOKE COUNTY AG FEST ENGLAND

The Lonoke County Ag Fest is a day filled with music, food and entertainm­ent. Visitors can check out the Ag Fest Car Show, which features a variety of classic and modern rides.
