WEDNESDAY Native American Flute FAIRFIELD BAY — William Worden, flute maker and musician, will bring his handmade instrument­s and stories to the Fairfield Bay Community Education Center from 9-11 a.m. Worden is an Artist on Tour and an Artist in Education with the Arkansas Arts Council. THURSDAY Career Education Open House BEEBE — The Arkansas State University-Beebe Searcy Campus will host a Career Education Open House from 6-8 p.m. The free event is for those who are interested in pursuing a new career or advancing their education or skills at the secondary or postsecond­ary level. Gem and Mineral Club Meeting CHEROKEE VILLAGE — The Spring River Gem and Mineral Club will meet at 10 a.m. at the Omaha Center on Pottawatta­mie Road. The program will be Minerals of South Africa, presented by Jimmy McNeil, owner of McNeil Minerals. McNeil will discuss the minerals and mines of his travel in Namibia, Botswana and South Africa. Old Soldiers Reunion Parade HEBER SPRINGS — American Legion Post 64 will host the annual Old Soldiers Reunion Parade at 6 p.m. The parade will start at Harps Grocery and end at Spring Park. Lineup will be at 5:30. Prizes will be awarded for floats: first place, $500; second place, $350; and third place, $250. The theme is “United We Stand,” and there is no entry fee. The parade will be followed by a carnival in Spring Park and other activities Aug. 3 and 4, including a beauty pageant. FRIDAY Lake Charles State Park Activities POWHATAN — Lake Charles State Park will offer the following activities. Nature Center Exploratio­n is from 1-3 p.m.; Reuse, Don’t Abuse! is from 1-1:45 p.m.; and Wild Water Cycle meets from 2-2:45 p.m. at the nature center. A Lake Tour will take place from 3:30-4:30 p.m. The cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for kids ages 6 to 12. Reservatio­ns are requested. For all outdoor activities, bring plenty of water and sun protection. SATURDAY Luau at the Lake FAIRFIELD BAY — Luau at the Lake will take place from 4-8:30 p.m. at the Fairfield Bay Marina. This inaugural celebrator­y event will include a day of games, traditiona­l luau music and the food of an authentic Hawaiian luau. Attendees are encouraged to wear grass skirts, leis and flowered shirts. Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser HORSESHOE BEND — A pancake-breakfast fundraiser to benefit the 2018 Campaign for People With Intellectu­al Disabiliti­es will take place from 7:30 a.m. to noon at St. Mary’s Church Hall, First and Church streets. The menu will include pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, and juice or coffee. A $7 donation is requested. The event is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. Pewter Casting Class FAIRFIELD BAY — The Fairfield Bay Community Education Center will offer its Pewter Casting class from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Master caster Fred Zeiler will teach the skill of carving and casting jewelry or tokens. Preregistr­ation is required, and students will have a pre-class assignment. The cost is $50, including materials. ONGOING Bike Batesville Program BATESVILLE — The Batesville Parks and Recreation Department will lead a free Bike Batesville program for ages 10 and older each Thursday evening through Aug. 30. The group will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the south parking lot of the Community Center, and the approximat­ely 10-mile ride will start at 6:45 p.m. and last around an hour and a half. Downtown Newport Farmers Market NEWPORT — The Downtown Newport Farmers Market opens at 7 a.m. every Wednesday and Saturday. The offerings include produce such as tomatoes, okra, peppers, cucumbers and more; canned items such as jams, jellies and pickles; baked zucchini bread; handmade soaps; lemonade; fruit-infused water and more. Antique Quilt Display EL PASO — Antique quilts owned by residents of the El Paso Community will be on display in the El Paso Library, 1507 Ridge Road, through August. The library is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays; from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays; from noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays; and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Feed the Veterans CABOT — Feed the Veterans, a veterans food pantry at 2535 S. Rockwood Drive, is open the third Saturday of each month. The pantry, which gives veterans a grocery cart so they can shop for the things they want and the amount they need, serves military veterans, their spouses, and children younger than
