TWINS 8, ROYALS 2 Max Kepler had three hits, including a two-run home run that put the Twins ahead to stay, and Jose Berrios threw seven sharp innings to help Minnesota beat visiting Kansas City.

INDIANS 3, ANGELS 0 Corey Kluber pitched a three-hitter for his first shutout this season and Leonys Martin homered again for the Indians, leading host Cleveland over Los Angeles.

RANGERS 3, ORIOLES 1 Joey Gallo and Rougned Odor both homered for the third consecutiv­e game, Mike Minor worked an efficient seven innings and Texas beat visiting Baltimore.

ATHLETICS 2, TIGERS 1 Khris Davis hit his 30th home run and ninth since the All-Star break, Matt Chapman also went deep and host Oakland beat Detroit.

CUBS 5, PADRES 4 Kyle Schwarber and Anthony Rizzo homered in a five-run second inning and Chicago hung on from there to beat visiting San Diego.

REDS 7-2, NATIONALS 1-6 Cincinnati beat host Washington in a tame opener, but things turned testy in a hurry during the nightcap. Nationals slugger Bryce Harper was forced to leave soon after being hit by a pitch, then Reds

star Joey Votto went wild when he got drilled as Washington won to split the doublehead­er.

PHILLIES 8, MARLINS 3 Carlos Santana had three hits, including one of the Phillies’ four home runs, and Zach Eflin allowed three runs in eight strong innings to lead Philadelph­ia over visiting Miami. CARDINALS 8, PIRATES 4 Jedd Gyorko drove in three runs while Kolten Wong and Yadier Molina each had three hits to lead St. Louis over host Pittsburgh.

METS 3, BRAVES 0 Kevin Gausman was outpitched in his Braves debut by a blossoming Zack Wheeler, and New York beat visiting Atlanta.

BREWERS 8, ROCKIES 4 Travis Shaw hit a grand slam during the Brewers’ six-run first inning, and host Milwaukee beat Colorado.

DIAMONDBAC­KS 9, GIANTS 3 Nick Ahmed homered twice and had four RBI, Steven Souza Jr. drove in three more runs and Arizona jumped on visiting San Francisco early for a victory.

ASTROS 14, DODGERS 0 Josh Reddick’s three-run home run highlighte­d the Astros’ seven-run eighth, and Houston beat host Los Angeles for its fourth consecutiv­e victory.
