MOUNTAIN HOME — The little son of Walter Shehorn, a farmer living near this place, was struck on the head by a rock thrown by one of the other children yesterday. A part of the rock imbedded itself in the skull. An operation was performed by local physicians and it was removed. The child is recovering nicely.

United States Senator Edmund S. Muskie of Maine, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, brought his political campaign to Little Rock Saturday and in less than four hours placed the blame for the nation’s social ills and poverty problems on Republican leaders, including former Vice President Richard Nixon. Nixon, the Republican presidential nominee, received the brunt of Muskie’s criticism as he spoke at a fund-raising luncheon, taped a television show and toured College Station, a predominately Negro area at the southeast edge of Little Rock.

A man enrolled in a state-run mental health program stabbed a 19-yearold woman to death Monday outside a North Little Rock apartment complex, police said. Tommy Allen Gentry, 42, pleaded innocent Tuesday to a charge of first-degree murder of Roslyn Reeves. He is one of 100 people living in Pulaski County enrolled in GAIN — Greater Assistance to those In Need — a program that helps mental patients live outside institutions. Gentry told a North Little Rock police officer that moonbeams shot at him by aliens forced him to stab the young woman.

The sign inside the door outlined a strict dress code. No White T Shirts. All hats of any style must be worn right. No sagging pants. For the female employees of Upscale Gentleman’s Club, however, the dress code was relaxed. Just after sundown on Friday, when the dancers outnumbered the customers two to one, Pulaski County sheriff’s deputies descended on the club at 14519 Highway 165, just west of Scott. A response to complaints of neighbors, the raid resulted in the arrest of three dancers, a bouncer and the club’s owner. One customer was found to have warrants, so he was held for Bryant police.
