Cello duo
Cellisimo — cellist Ruslan Biryukov and Anne Suda — performs at 7 p.m. today at the Ritz Civic Center, 306 W. FRIDAY Evil Dead musical
Five college students accidentally unleash an evil force that turns them all into bad-joke-telling demons, and it’s all up to a housewares employee to save the day in Evil Dead — The Musical (music by Christopher Bond, Frank Cipolla, Melissa Morris and George Reinblatt, book and lyrics by Reinblatt, combining elements of the cult classic films The Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness). It’ll be onstage 7:30 p.m. today-Saturday and Oct. 18-20 and 25-27, 2:30 p.m. Sunday and Oct. 21 and 28 at the Studio Theatre, 320 W. Seventh St., Little Rock. This show contains mature language, sexual innuendo, comedic gore and “unbridled camp,” according to a news release. “History in Color: The Spectrum of Daily Life in Early America,” featuring 18th- and 19th-century textiles, ceramics, decorative applications and fine art items showing how color shaped early American cultural attitudes, opens Friday with a 5-8 p.m. 2nd Friday Art Night reception in the Stella Boyle Smith Atrium, Historic Arkansas Museum, 200 E. Third St., Little Rock. It’ll feature music and complimentary appetizers and beverages. The exhibit, in the museum’s Arkansas Made Gallery, will remain up through the end of 2019. Organ recital
Houston organist Grant Wareham will give a recital at 8 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, 200 W. Sixth St., Pine Bluff. Wareham will play the Toccata and Fugue in d minor, BWV 538, “Dorian,” by Johann Sebastian Bach; Chorale No. 2 in b minor by Cesar Franck; the second movement, “The Fires of Silence,” from Hyperion ou La rethorique du feu by Jean Guillou; Organ Sonata No. 1 in f minor, op.65 No. 1, by Felix Mendelssohn; Pageant by Leo Sowerby ; two movements — “Allegro Maestoso” and “Cantilene” — from the Symphony No. 3, op.28, by Louis Vierne; Evening Song by Edward Bairstow; and Phantasie uber den Choral “Wie schon leucht’ uns der Morgenstern,” op.40, No. 1, by Max Reger.
