Arkansas Democrat-Gazette - - NEWS - CLARA TURNAGE

A Little Rock man was arrested Wednesday after doctors found multiple severe fractures on his malnourished infant daughter’s arm and leg and multiple suspected fractures to the child’s ribs, according to court documents.

Officers arrested D’Juan Williams, 24, on Mara Lynn Road on Wednesday, eight days after doctors found “multiple fractures” throughout the child’s body, according to a warrant for his arrest. The infant girl also had bruising under one of her eyes and was malnourished, court documents said.

Williams told officers he was the child’s primary caregiver at the time of the injury, but he said he could give no specific reason for why the girl would have so many fractures, officers reported. The injuries were consistent with “serious physical abuse or a traumatic car accident,” a doctor at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, where the infant had surgery to repair her arm, told police.

Williams’ wife told police he had a history of abuse. She said he had recently accused her of having an affair and did not believe that the child was his child, according to the warrant.

Officers arrested Williams on a charge of first-degree battery and transported him to the Pulaski County jail, where he remained Friday in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
