Visitors angling for fun find lots at Aldersgate
The 35th Annual Fish Fry benefiting Camp Aldersgate was celebrated birthday-style at the camp Oct. 14.
The event featured children’s party activities including hayrides, a cupcake walk and face painting. There were also carousel rides on the state’s only fully accessible carousel, a fishing derby and a pumpkin patch. For grownups there was a bake sale and a merchants pop-up shop.
And of course, there was fried catfish, hush puppies and slaw, which was prepared by the Midtown Rotary Club.
Serving as this year’s host family were Branon and Katy Fryar, their daughter, Lauren Kate, and son Nicolas, who was a camper at Aldersgate for the first time this summer.
Camp Aldersgate serves children with special needs and senior adults in a camp environment.
