WEDNESDAY Annual Trunk-or-Treat

RUSSELL — The town of Russell will have its annual Trunk-or-Treat, starting at 6 p.m., at the Russell Park and the Old Russell School. Fun and Safe Halloween

BATESVILLE — Main Street Batesville will offer its Fun and Safe Halloween event for spooky fun from 5-7 p.m. The public is invited to stroll the residentia­l and business areas of Main Street as residents and merchants pass out candy. Side streets will be blocked off, allowing little ones to meander in safety. Children are encouraged to wear costumes. Harry Potter Halloween Party

BATESVILLE — The Independen­ce County Library, 267 E. Main St., will host a Harry Potter-themed Halloween party for teens ages 13 to 19 from 3-6 p.m. The free party will feature food, games, crafts, a costume contest and other activities. SEARCY — The Harding University Department of Music will present a concert featuring Kiril Laskarov, concertmas­ter of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, with Scott Carrell, at 7 p.m. in the Reynolds Center Recital Hall at Harding. The concert is free and open to the public.

THURSDAY  SATURDAY The Diviners

BEEBE — The Theater Department at Arkansas State University–Beebe will present The Diviners at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday in the Owen Center Auditorium, 910 N. Pecan St., on the Beebe campus. The Diviners, by Jim Leonard, is a play about loss and redemption, featuring live gospel and Americana music. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The play is open to the public, and admission is free.

FRIDAY Reception for Gary Paxson

NEWPORT — White River Health System invites residents of Jackson County and surroundin­g areas to meet Gary Paxson, successor CEO of WRHS, from 2-4 p.m. at the White River Medical Center Medical Complex Newport. Coffee, hot cocoa and refreshmen­ts will be provided. Paxson was appointed Successor CEO in August when Gary Bebow, current WRHS CEO, announced his retirement. Paxson will begin as CEO on Jan. 1.

SATURDAY Vocal Recital

SEARCY — The Harding University Department of Music will present vocalists Parker Skinner and Alaynna Rains in a recital at 7 p.m. in the Reynolds Center Recital Hall at Harding. The recital is free and open to the public.

Jeans & Bling

SEARCY — Jeans & Bling, a charity event for the United Way of White County, will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Searcy Country Club, 2729 W. Country Club Road. The evening will feature music by Jason Coleman, a silent auction, hors d’oeuvres and local-beer tasting. Tickets are $50 in advance or $55 at the door. Boots, Bands & BBQ Fundraiser

SALEM — The Fulton County Hospital Foundation will host its second family-friendly Boots,

Bands, & BBQ fundraiser in the Salem Civic Center at the Fulton County Fairground­s. Doors will open at 5 p.m. Recording artist Bonnie Montgomery will take the stage at 6 p.m., followed by Chuck Young and Friends at 7 p.m. Other activities include a silent auction, dancing, and concession­s with barbecue, burgers and fixins. Event attire is country-western or weekend casual. Tickets, which will be sold at the door, are $10 for adults and $5 for kids ages 6-12. Children ages 5 and younger will be admitted free. Sponsorshi­ps from $50 to $2,500 are available. Proceeds from the event will fund the Fulton County Hospital’s communicat­ions switching system.

Feed the Veterans

CABOT — The Feed the Veterans food pantry, 214 Rainbow Drive, is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the third Saturday of each month. The pantry, which lets veterans shop for the items and amounts they need, serves military veterans, their spouses and children younger than 18. Retirees, guardsmen and reservists are welcome. The only requiremen­t is proof of military service — a DD-214 or a Veterans Affairs Health Care card or military ID. Free GED Classes

MOUNTAIN VIEW/MAMMOTH SPRING — Free GED classes are available at Ozarka College. Classes in Mountain View will meet from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and classes in Mammoth Spring will meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. UPCOMING Delta Symphony Orchestra Concert

BATESVILLE — The Delta Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Neale Bartee, will present a concert of classical music at 3 p.m. Nov. 4 at Sloan Auditorium in Brown Chapel at Lyon College. The concert will include Albinoni’s Concerto for Two Oboes and Strings, featuring Dan Ross and Katie Bowden, soloists. There will be a pre-concert talk at 2:15 p.m. in the Bevens Music Room, adjoining the auditorium. Admission is free, and donations are welcome.

Holiday Bazaar

CHEROKEE VILLAGE — The United Methodist Women of Cherokee Village United Methodist Church will hold their annual Holiday Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov 10 at the church, at the corner of Keno and Otter Drive. The bazaar will feature baked goods and candies, Christmas decor, craft items, personaliz­ed Christmas ornaments and a silent auction. Coffee will be available from 9-10 a.m., and a soup lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Everyone is invited. Proceeds from the bazaar will support local mission ministries.

Flag Display and Dedication

HEBER SPRINGS — The American Legion and the Cleburne County Rotary will display more than 8,100 American flags around the Cleburne County Courthouse to honor Arkansas soldiers, Arkansas Medal of Honor recipients and first responders who have given their lives in the field beginning with World War I. The display will be up until Nov. 11, when the American Legion and Rotary will dedicate the flags at 3 p.m.
