HAZEL ANN BALL, 77, of Maumelle, went to be with the Lord on November 1,

2018, peacefully surrounded by her family.

Hazel fought a courageous battle to survive and died from injuries sustained in a car accident.

She was born in

Eudora, Ark., on March 22, 1941, to the late Jesse and Alene (Stephenson) Ball.

Hazel is survived by two brothers, Dempsey (Renee) Ball of Georgia and Donald (Johnnie) Ball of Louisiana; a sister, Virginia (Charles) Stutts of Sherwood. She is also survived by nephews and nieces, Jimmy Tubbs of Louisiana, Robin Dyer of Georgia, Cindy Alba of California, Charlie Stutts Jr., of Maumelle, Teddy Ball of Texas, Suzi Gower of Georgia, Scott Stutts of Sherwood and Steven Ball of Georgia. Hazel was also a loving great aunt to 12 great-nephews and nieces.

In her professional career of real estate, Hazel was known to all as Ann Ball. She was President/CEO of Bankers Asset Management and Executive Broker of Crye-Leike Realtors Financial Centre Branch. Ann began her career in 1972 in Dallas, Texas, owning several real estate offices throughout the years. She formed Ball Asset Management, a full service REO Asset Management firm located in Dallas, Texas, in 1992. Ann relocated her business to Little Rock, Ark., in 1998. In 2003, she formed an alliance with Lisa Crye, of CryeLeike Realtors, creating Bankers Asset Management, a woman-owned and woman-managed REO asset management company specializing in the default servicing industry handling the disposition of foreclosed properties nationwide.

Ann had overcome many challenges and hardships throughout the years to achieve her success. One of the main challenges Ann had to overcome was being a woman in business back in the early 1970s. During that time, there were broad stereotypes and discrimination against women being leaders in real estate and the default servicing industry. Over the decades, Ann saw noticeable improvement on that front but still felt more progress could be made. Another major challenge for Ann over the years had been a multitude of health issues and she was most grateful to be a cancer survivor. In spite of numerous challenges, Ann had always “stepped up to the plate” to ensure her businesses were running smoothly and that all of her Clients’ needs were being met consistently.

Hazel loved the Lord and Savior deeply and was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church Maumelle. Hazel was a long-term member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 35 years. She was a devoted member of the Back to Basics Group which meet on Friday evenings in Maumelle. She loved to sponsor women in need and shared her experience, strength and hope in order for them to live productive and successful lives.

Visitation will be Friday, November 9th, from 6-8 p.m. at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 10th, at First Baptist Church Maumelle. Burial will follow at Pine Crest Memorial Park, Alexander. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to First Baptist Church Maumelle or to the AA Central Office, 7509 Cantrell Rd., #106, Little Rock, Ark. 72207. She was intensely loyal to her family and friends, she never met a stranger and was the most loving woman you could ever meet. Her generosity knew no bounds. She loved spending time with the members of First Assembly of God Church and was much loved in return by all who knew her.

In 2005 Momma Bear suffered a Spinal separation causing her to have three surgeries in 18 days and became bed ridden. She had lost the ability to walk two plus years before those operations. While she was bed ridden her Church life was provided by Televangelists Jimmy Swaggart, Joel Osteen, and God’s Party Line Services provided to members by the Bismarck Baptist Church.

One day in 2012 two Hampton First Assembly of God Church members came to her house and prayed for healing. After that Jesus raised her out of the bed into a wheelchair. Momma Bear and Family then began attending the Assembly and later became Members of the Hampton First Assembly of God where she continued to be the recipient of many blessings. Having been unable to walk for 10 years, a prayer was then sent up by an Assembly Evangelist praying for Jesus to get her out of the wheel chair and walk. She began to walk for the first time in 10 years without support. All who knew her loved her dearly and Praised God for his healing powers.
