4 p.m. on TCM Movie: The Bridge on the River Kwai

Airing as part of TCM’s Veterans Day weekend lineup of war films, David Lean’s classic 1957 adaptation of the Pierre Boulle novel earned seven Oscars, including best picture and director. Alec Guinness was named best actor for his portrayal of a British colonel leading fellow prisoners of war in building a railroad bridge for the Japanese. An American officer (William Holden) schemes to destroy it. Jack Hawkins and Sessue Hayakawa co-star; the score includes the highly whistleabl­e “Colonel Bogey March.”

7 p.m. on Disney Channel Movie: Cloud 9

Dove Cameron (Liv & Maddie) stars in this family-friendly new drama as Kayla, a prima donna snowboarde­r whose team dumps her. She’s forced to train with Will (Luke Benward, Good Luck Charlie), a former champion branded as a failure after a career-ending wipeout, and she becomes as helpful to him as he is to her. Jeffrey Nordling (Body of Proof) also stars.

7 p.m. on Hallmark Channel Movie: It’s Christmas, Eve

Interim school superinten­dent Eve Morgan (LeAnn Rimes) makes her living traveling around and trying to turn around the fortunes of failing schools, but she’s surprised when she is assigned to visit one in her hometown. In the course of events there, she meets single dad Liam Bailey (Tyler Hynes, UnREAL), head of the school’s music department, which is clinging to life by a thread. Fortunatel­y for him, music is close to Eve’s heart. Rimes also wrote and performs two original songs in this holiday drama.

7 p.m. on Lifetime Movie: Sorority Stalker

Aya, who owns a spa, bumps into a woman in distress who turns out to be a sorority sister. She’s badly disconcert­ed, though, when this newcomer, Taryn, reveals her source of sorrow is the same guy Aya has just moved to Los Angeles to start a new life with. Obviously never having seen a Lifetime movie, Aya doesn’t hesitate to let Taryn move in with her, not realizing that — surprise! — Taryn is an emotionall­y unstable fraud.

9:30 p.m. on AMC Movie: Road House

As generally mindless as it is relentless­ly brawny, this 1989 action picture from producer Joel Silver (Die Hard, Lethal Weapon) — which has become something of a cult movie for its ardent fans — still provides a good share of bone-crunching fun. Patrick Swayze plays a celebrated nightspot bouncer who runs up against a ruthless tycoon (Ben Gazzara), the leader of some local villains.
