Rescue Pet of the Week

Shadow (above left) was adopted in Louisiana and found his way here with his family. His owner is no longer able to care for him, and we are helping Shadow find his forever home. Shadow is super sweet and loves attention. He is well-mannered and easygoing. He is good with other dogs and doesn’t mind having kitty friends inside. At 6 years old, Shadow has lots of life yet, and you don’t have to worry about him chewing or having accidents inside. Shadow is looking for a medium-energy family that will give him the love he deserves for the rest of his life. Shadow is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. His adoption fee is $200.

Paws in Prison Pet of the Week

As a young pup, Sigrid (above right) went to a family that put her out on a chain. She had no trees for shade, no house to protect her from the elements, nor even a bowl for her food. Occasionally, someone would step out and dump a bag of food on the ground and call it good. Sigrid had nothing. Luckily, a neighbor spotted her and began helping her, despite her owner’s protests. The nice lady gave her a house with straw and bowls for food and water, and she made her as comfortable as possible. Over time, the nice lady talked Sigrid’s owner into letting her go over to play with her dog sometimes, and Sigrid enjoyed those times immensely. Eventually, the owners moved away and left Sigrid, and the nice lady removed that chain once and for all. Sigrid is extremely smart and quickly picks up the routines of family life indoors. She became house-trained almost immediately and was crate-trained in no time. Sigrid gets along with other dogs but needs a home with no kitties, as she will chase them. Sigrid is learning to be a lady on a leash and knows basic commands. She will know even more once she graduates from Paws in Prison. She is as beautiful as can be and can’t wait to find a family of her own that will give her everything she was missing in the beginning of her life — for the rest of her life. Sigrid is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $250. Shadow, Sigrid and friends can be adopted through CARE for Animals.
