Wanted: new blood

The chief of staff at the White House, the honorable John Kelly, is apparently on the hot seat—again. He’s been on and off the thing since he went to work for this president. So the rumors of his demise have been exaggerated before.

But as of this writing, sources are telling the papers that the president of the United States and his chief of staff are no longer on speaking terms.

There’s a word for that, when a president and his right-hand man, gate-keeper and top administrator aren’t talking, and are avoiding each other’s company:

Untenable.
