Trash is everywhere

-

Rex Nelson wrote a spot-on column about Little Rock being such a trashy city and the volunteer efforts to clean it up. He urged the new mayor to take charge. I would include in his column the trash piles (including food given to them) left on multiple corners by the panhandlers that are another metro embarrassment.

However, the entire metro freeways and on/off ramps are awful. Why would anyone driving through Little Rock/North Little Rock want to stop or consider living or doing business here with such a sight? I’m not speaking of just the dirt, or even the cups and fast-food trash (our citizens). There are tons of huge objects such as bumpers, tires, lumber, plywood and many other things that appear to have blown or fallen from trucks and trailers. They stay there for days/weeks/months. The high-priced vacuum trucks are not going to touch this trash, and the volunteer thing is not feasible due to the danger involved on the freeways. We see it every day and just get used to it. Try driving around and paying particular attention on occasion, and that is the way the thousands of folks driving through see us.

I know the standard reply will be money and time. Got it. But if we want our metro area to appear to have some class …

Also, am I the only one sick and tired of hearing about that hog farm? Give it up, Masterson. People are the biggest problem and polluters on Earth. Fence the Buffalo off and it will likely return to its pristine natural state. RAY VANZANDT North Little Rock lessons on how government actually works, paying particular attention to the Constitution as a whole, checks and balances, and the First Amendment. He’ll also need some etiquette lessons so he can get along with, well, everyone who doesn’t worship him— there are a lot of us.

After that, I’m sure a few head smacks will be in order, if just to get him to pay attention to something that isn’t Fox News.

Oh, wait. That means I’d have to touch him. Never mind.
