Funeral services will be Friday, January 18, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

–––––❖––––– FRISCO, Texas — Nellie Agnes Moore Slawson, 91, of Frisco, Texas, entered into heaven on January 12, 2019.

Nellie was born in Tupelo,

Miss., to Walter

Fletcher Moore and Mary Jane McIntyre,on December 28, 1927.

She grew up, and graduated high school in Memphis, Tenn. While working for NAPA Auto Parts, she met her future husband, James Dossy Slawson. They married on October 25, 1946, and were married until his death, on March 20, 2013.

After raising two children, Nellie entered back into the work force and enjoyed her job with the Arkansas Department of Agricultur­e, Cotton Division. Later, she moved on to work as a tax examiner for the state of Arkansas. She loved helping people and working with numbers and remained in this job until her retirement.

Nellie was a longtime member, and servant of the Lord, at Lifeline Baptist Church. She loved singing in the choir and ladies ensemble and was a long time Sunday School teacher, beloved by many.

Nellie is survived by her daughter, Rebecca “Becky” McCants and her husband, Gary, of Frisco, Texas; her son James “Ronnie” Slawson and his wife, Lori, of Bryant, Ark.; four grandchild­ren Sean and Mitchell McCants, Stacy Riley and her husband, Dylan, and Stephanie Slawson; a sister, Betty Henson, of Memphis, Tenn.; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Services will be Thursday, January 17, at 10 a.m., at Lifeline Baptist Church. Nellie will be laid beside her husband, James, at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, Ark. Donations may be made to Lifeline Baptist Church.

–––––❖––––– HOUSTON— Elsa Lee Grubaugh Gay, age 89, passed away on Tuesday,

January 1, 2019.

She was born to

George Lester

(Jack) Grubaugh and Ora (Beggs) Grubaugh on October 29, 1929, in Norman, Okla. A graduate of East

Central University, in Ada, Okla.,

Elsa married John Gay in 1951 and together they began their ministry serving churches in Oklahoma, New Mexico, Texas and Arkansas. John and Elsa moved to The Woodlands, Texas in 2010 to be closer fo family due to Elsa’s illness with Alzheimer’s.

Elsa Gay is survived by her son David Gay and wife Susan of Buda, Texas, her daughter, Kathy Halbert and husband David of Colleyvill­e, Texas, and daughter, Cindy Winn and husband Michael of The Woodlands, Texas. She is also survived by six grandchild­ren, Kristen Barstad and husband Jeff of McKinney, Texas, Patrick Halbert and wife Shannon of Dallas, Texas, Michael Halbert and wife Caroline of Frisco, Texas, Aaron Winn and wife Hayley of Houston, Texas, Daniel Winn and wife Jaclyn of League City, Texas, and Thomas Winn and wife Laura of League City, Texas. She was the great-grandmothe­r of 15. Other survivors include her sister, Jane Ogilbee and brotherin-law, David of Humble, Texas; sister-in-law, Carol Barrett of Midland, Texas; cousin-in-law, Mary Gurley and husband George of Ada, Okla., and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Mt. Comfort Church of Christ, in Fayettevil­le, Ark., on January 19, 2019. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Paragould Children’s Home in Paragould, Ark., the Alzheimer’s Foundation or the charity of your choice.
