NO. 25 MIAMI 72, NO. 4 NOTRE DAME 65

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Emese Hof and Beatrice Mompremier had double-doubles for the No. 25 Miami Hurricanes (20-5, 8-2 ACC), who applied smothering defense to beat No. 4 Notre Dame 72-65 on Thursday night.

The Fighting Irish were held to a season-low point total and shot 37 percent, also a season low. Miami won despite shooting just 39 percent, including 3 for 16 from threepoint range.

Hof had 21 points and 13 rebounds. Mompremier added 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Jessica Shepard led Notre Dame (21-3, 8-2) with 17 points and 17 rebounds.

In other Top 25 women’s games Thursday, Asia Durr scored 15 points to help No. 2 Louisville beat No. 15 Syracuse 76-51. … Nausia Woolfolk scored 22 points, including a career-high-tying 5 three-pointers, and No. 24 Florida State scored 10 consecutiv­e points late in the fourth quarter to knock off No. 9 North Carolina State 75-70. … Stephanie Jones had 16 points and nine rebounds as No. 10 Maryland rolled past Northweste­rn 72-57 for its sixth consecutiv­e victory. … Nelly Perry led a balanced attack with 13 points and No. 12 South Carolina got an easy 76-42 victory over Mississipp­i. … Sophie Cunningham scored six of her 22 points in the final minute of overtime and Missouri ended No. 18 Texas A&M’s seven-game winning streak with a 70-65 OT victory. … Rhyne Howard scored 19 points, Taylor Murry added 17 and No. 19 Kentucky defeated Auburn 78-68 . ... … Megan Gustafson poured in 41 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead No. 16 Iowa to an 86-71 victory over No. 23 Michigan State. … Kianna Ibis scored 22 points and No. 20 Arizona took over in the second half to defeat Washington State 61-46.

NO. 12 HOUSTON 77, CENTRAL FLORIDA 68

ORLANDO, Fla. — Corey Davis Jr. scored 26 points on 8-for-13 shooting and No. 12 Houston (22-1, 9-1 American Athletic) beat Central Florida.

B.J. Taylor scored 16 of his 21 points in the second half for Central Florida (16-5, 6-3), and Aubrey Dawkins and Tacko Fall each added 13.

In other Top 25 men’s games Thursday, Brandon Clarke had 20 points, 16 rebounds and 5 blocks as No. 4 Gonzaga beat San Francisco 92-62 for its 13th consecutiv­e victory. … Jordan Bohannon matched his season high with 25 points, including scoring the last 11 for No. 20 Iowa as the Hawkeyes held on for a 7772 victory over Indiana . ... Jarron Cumberland scored 17 points and keyed a late rally as No. 25 Cincinnati (20-3, 9-1 American Athletic Conference) overcame a poor shooting night to beat Memphis (13-10, 5-5) 69-64.
