TODAY Quartet in the stacks

The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra’s Quapaw Quartet — Meredith Maddox Hicks and Charlotte Crosmer, violins; Ryan Mooney, viola; and David Gerstein, cello — will perform a program titled “A Little Night Music” for the Central Arkansas Library System’s Butler Center for Arkansas Studies’ “Sounds in the Stacks” series, 6:30 p.m. today at the Sue Cowan Williams Library, 1800 S. Chester St., Little Rock. The program will include the complete

Serenade in G major, K.525, “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik,” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, “interspers­ed,” says Gerstein, with different takes on what ‘Night Music’ might be,” including “Music of the Night” from Phantom of the Opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber; “Tonight” from West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein; Noites

Cariocas by Jacob do Bandolim; and the third movement, “Non troppo lento,” from the

ETC. $5 movies

The Movie Tavern, 11300 Bass Pro Parkway, Little Rock, is charging $5 for all movies they screen on Tuesdays henceforth, and will also dispense “compliment­ary-size popcorn” for free. The policy is chain-wide, in the wake of Milwaukee-based Marcus Theatres completing its acquisitio­n Feb. 1 of the chain, formerly owned by New Orleans-based Southern Theatres, L.L.C. Artist workshop

The Arkansas Arts Council will host a free networking event showcasing opportunit­ies for artists, 5:30-7 p.m. Feb. 28 in the Diamond Conference Room, Department of Arkansas Heritage, 1100 North St., Little Rock. It’s part of the agency’s GetSmArt! Learning Series. Admission is free; refreshmen­ts will be available. Seating is limited.
