Fernando De La Cruz won three consecutiv­e races to raise his season total to eight victories in 38 starts, which puts him in fourth place in the jockey standings. De La Cruz won the fifth race with Irish Mischief ($3.20, $2.40, $2.60), covering 1 mile in 1:39.11; the sixth race with Super Syd ($36.40, $12.80, $5.40), covering 6 furlongs in 1:11.19; and the seventh race with Cummings ($11.00, $4.60, $3.80), covering 6 furlongs in 1:10.17.

GRAY ATTEMPT DRAWS RAIL

Dwight Pruett’s Gray Attempt drew the rail Friday morning for the $500,000 Southwest Stakes for 3-year-olds, part of a stakes triplehead­er Monday at Oaklawn.

Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen entered five horses — Bankit, Boldor, Jersey Agenda, Long Range Toddy and Ninth Street — with Cutting Humor, Olympic Runner, Six Shooter, Sueno and Super Steed completing the projected 11-horse field.
