TODAY Harlem Hellfighters
The MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History, 503 E. Ninth St., Little Rock, will screen The Harlem Hellfighters, a documentary about the black soldiers of the 369th Infantry Regiment, known as the Harlem Hellfighters during World War I, and their leader, musician James Reese Europe, 6:30 p.m. today. WEDNESDAY Guitar recital
Classical guitarist Peter Fletcher performs at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Conway Public Library, 1900 W. Tyler St., Conway. Fletcher’s program includes “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” and the Lute Suite No. 1 by J.S. Bach; Caprice No. 24 by Niccolo Paganini; Five Bagatelles by William Walton; Recuerdos de la Alhambra by Francisco Tarrega; Concerto in D major by Antonio Vivaldi; and two original transcriptions from Fletcher’s 2002 album, Fedrico Mompou. ETC. Country honorees
The organizers of the Arkansas Country Music Awards are giving 2019 Lifetime Achievement Awards to Conway Twitty, Patsy Montana, the Wilburn Brothers, Kye Fleming and Jimmy Driftwood. “All five have left a huge mark in country music and have made Arkansas proud,” says country music journalist Charles Haymes. “From a giant country star to a Western cowgirl to a popular sibling duo to a top-notch hit songwriter to one of the greatest folk/country storytellers, this is an incredible mix of Arkansans.” A June 3 red-carpet event at the Maumelle High School Auditorium will honor the recipients.
