The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville embraces a practical approach to education, providing students with diverse educationa­l opportunit­ies and job-enhancemen­t programs. Over the past 20 years, UACCB has crafted a unique blend of associate and transfer degrees and technical certificat­ions by focusing on the needs of industry leaders and residents who live within the college’s four-county service area. UACCB expanded its program offerings with the addition of the agricultur­e technology program in 2017, which offers four distinct areas of focus for students to choose to study, and mechatroni­cs in 2018, which gives students necessary skill sets for industrial careers. UACCB has been recognized as a leader in education both locally and nationally. The college was named the 2017 Leader in Education by the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce and was recognized by the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program as one of the nation’s top-150 community colleges. In January 2019, UACCB broke ground on a state-of-the-art workforce training center that will include areas for career and technical education and a makerspace. In fall 2019, the registered nursing program will implement a concept-based curriculum that will train students in broad concepts of patient care rather than focusing on content memorizati­on.
