■ Bernie Sanders, 77, the Vermont senator seeking the Democratic presidential nomination, sported a large bandage on his forehead at a campaign event in South Carolina after cutting his head on the edge of a glass shower door and then getting a half-dozen stitches at a walk-in clinic.
■ Kerry Jo Hickman of Oologah, Okla., was arrested after she was discovered with a T-shirt-launching gun in her car, which authorities said she used to blast a package containing drugs, cellphones and other contraband over the fence of a state prison in Sayre.
■ Rene Flores-Calderon, a 35-year-old Mexican man who has been deported at least six times, pleaded guilty to transporting people into the U.S. illegally after he was caught driving on an interstate near St. Louis with 10 adults and three children illegally in the U.S. as passengers, prosecutors said.
■ Michael Seed, 58, a security-alarm specialist identified as the ringleader of a gang of mostly older men who stole jewelry worth millions of dollars from a London safe-deposit storehouse in 2015, was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

■ Mike Cazes, the sheriff of West Baton Rouge Parish, La., is being investigated by state corrections officials after a state inmate assigned to a parish work-release program was spotted doing unsupervised yard work at the sheriff’s home.
■ Stephan Gollan, a battalion fire chief in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., said a firefighter used a rubber glove to grab an iguana so it could be released into the wild after a homeowner “freaked out” when he found the bright green reptile swimming in his toilet.
