VAN ANDERSON ROCHELLE MOORES JR., age 94, of Little Rock, formerly of Russellvil­le died Wednesday, March 20,

2019, surrounded by his family.

He was born on December 14,

1924, in Russellvil­le to Van Anderson Rochelle

Moores Sr. and

Eileen Allbritten Moores.

He attended Arkansas Tech in Russellvil­le before joining the Army. He served in the China-Burma-India Theater of Operations with the Army Air Corps during WWII. Following service in WWII he graduated from the University of Arkansas in Fayettevil­le with a degree in accounting. He was a member of Kappa Sig Fraternity. He joined his father in the family business, the retail store, The New Store in Russellvil­le. When he closed the store in 1977, he purchased Shinn Funeral Service and ran it for several years until his retirement when he and Marilyn moved to Parkway Village in Little Rock in 2007.

Van was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Russellvil­le, serving on the finance committee for many years. He also was a member of the Friendship Class. He was involved in the Lions Club and the Russellvil­le Chamber of Commerce, serving as president. A strong supporter of Arkansas Tech, he was honored with the Distinguis­hed Alumni Award.

He loved golf, bridge and travel. One of his favorite activities after moving to Little Rock was to play duplicate bridge at the Little Rock Bridge House. During his long life in Russellvil­le, he had a regular foursome at the Russellvil­le Country Club and two bridge groups, playing weekly games.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Alice Wepfer Moores; son, Van Anderson Rochelle Moores III; and granddaugh­ter, Rachel Schwartz. Van is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn Hartje Moores; two daughters and sons-inlaw, Mary and Ron Schwartz of Russellvil­le and Brenda and Mike Hengel of Las Vegas, Nevada; five grandchild­ren and one great-grandchild.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 23, 2019, at the Shinn Chapel with the Pastor Don Stiles officiatin­g. Burial will be at 2 p.m., in Crestlawn Memorial Park near Conway and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellvil­le.

–––––❖––––– CHARLES F. PRICE, 87, passed away March 20, 2019. Born in Prescott, Arkansas to Charles C. Price and Nell Myram Short Price, he was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during the Korean War. In 1992, he retired from Motorola C&E Inc. as an Account Executive and District Manager after 23 years of service. His hobbies included ham radio (for 68 years) and music, performing with various big bands and combos since 1971. Charles was a 32nd Degree Mason, York Rite Mason, Scottish Rite Mason, and a member of F&A Masons Lodge 13 in El Dorado.

Preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Shirley Wann Price, he is survived by his son, Miles Price and daughter, Chandra Price Handley (David), both of Little Rock; brother, Jimmy Price of Los Altos, California; granddaugh­ters, Hayley Price of Chicago, Illinois and Tarah Handley of San Antonio; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

JOY SALLEE THOMPSON, 57, of Little Rock, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 19, 2019. She was dearly loved by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis E. –––––❖––––– CHARLES JUNIOR WARREN, 94, of North Little Rock, passed away March 14, 2019. He was born in Marcella, Arkansas on September 4, 1924, son of the late Charles Andrew and Monnie (Ivy) Warren. Charles joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17. At age 20 he met the love of his life, Lola Lee Harbour. They were married for 73 years. He received an honorable discharge from the Navy and settled in North Little Rock.

He is survived by his children, Charlotte Smith of NLR, Pam (Art) Quagliani of Dallas and Jay (Lisa) Warren of NLR; six grandchild­ren, Jamie Smith, Clay (Karla) Smith, Coby Smith, Scarlett, Sterling and Charlie Warren; ten great-grandchild­ren, Hayley (Chris) Dwyer, Jake Smith, Evyn Smith, Sheridan Smith, Gray Smith, Peri Smith, Brady Smith, Skyler Smith, Keller and Asher Smith. Two great-great grandchild­ren, Juliet and Faye Dwyer.

Charles was involved in many different areas of sales his entire life, including Gulf Oil, owned gas stations, Mobile Home Brokers, Inc. and even owned a BBQ restaurant, Granny’s Shanty.

Wilma P. Gravely Denning. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bill loved serving the Lord. He was a member of Liberty Baptist church. He loved and cherished his church family and his grandchild­ren. Bill’s favorite pastimes included deer hunting with his friends, camping, and sharing lunch with his friend, John. He also loved to go to the lake and go fishing. He was an avid sportsman. Bill was a truck driver for many years and owner of B and L Trucking Company of Spirit Mobile Homes in Conway, Arkansas. He was also a former employee of the Transit Homes in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Bill is survived by his wife of 53 years, Loretta Mayfield Denning; three daughters, Rhonda Hankins (Johnny), Sandra Finley, Sharon Bibbs (Mark), all from Cabot; seven grandchild­ren, Dillon and Hallie Hankins, Taylor, Bailey (Lindsey), and Brayden Finley, Brettley and Brittney Bibbs, all from Cabot; one brother, Edward Denning from Amarillo, Texas; two sisters, Deborah Vaughn (Dale) from Van Buren, Arkansas, and Linda Kahn from

Denison, Texas.

5th, 2019. He was born on January 14th,

1963, to the late

Jerry Ferguson and Sarah Randall Ferguson.

At 6’7”, Tiny was a large man but never used his size to gain an advantage, he preferred to help others and had a gentle soul. For many years Tiny delivered newspapers for the Democrat-Gazette. He will be remembered as a long time Little League Coach in Brinkley. Preceded in death by his father, Jerry, and nephew, Travis Nail. Survivors include mother, Sarah Ferguson; sisters, Sandy (Buddy) Henley, Barbara Nail (Henry Ford), Kim Stowe; and brother, Jeff Ferguson. Tiny will be remembered the most every spring when baseball season begins. Memorial service 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23rd, Fowler Funeral Home. He was born August 9, 1948, in Morrilton, Arkansas, to the late

Mitchell and Earlene Epperson.

Denny served in the Army during Vietnam. He was very compassion­ate and helped Veterans receive benefits. Denny served as a police officer in McComb, Mississipp­i, Morrilton, and retired after many years with the Conway Police Department. He had a soft heart and loved his family and dog.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Judy Epperson, son, Denny (Shandal) Epperson Jr., step-sons, Whit (Shannon) Chance and Steve (Elke) Chance, step-daughters, Stacy (B.J.) –––––❖––––– CONWAY — Ruth Uttrich, 85, passed away Monday, March 18, 2019, at her son’s home in Conway, Arkansas. Ruth was born March 20, 1933 in Kirchberg, Germany. As a young girl, she was a world class gymnast winning many awards in her native Germany, and a devout Lutheran Sunday School teacher. She became a devoted military wife and travelled to America in 1960, with her husband MSgt Henry “Hank” Uttrich (USAF Ret). Ruth was very proud of her three children, who followed in their father’s footsteps and joined the United States Air Force upon graduation from High School. With tender loving care, she taught her children how to overcome the fear of being the “new kids in town” and the skills needed to be self-sufficient. Never attaining US citizenshi­p, she became a very proud “American” that never forgot her German heritage. She was known for her cooking; her love of dogs; beer; and the deep friendship­s she developed with the many military wives she met during her husband’s assignment­s, and the neighbors in her adopted home town of San Antonio, Texas. She enjoyed a very special bond with her daughter-in-law, Betty, who was her caregiver in the final months of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hank; her parents, Friedrich and Ida Faber; and her son-in-law, MSgt Robert Mitchell (USAF Ret). She is survived by her two daughters, MSgt Helga Mitchell (USAF Ret) of Mechanicsv­ille, Virginia; SMSgt Heidi Uttrich (USAF Ret) (Walt Linzmier) of Del Rio, Texas; and her son Major William “Bill” Uttrich (USAF Ret) (Betty); five grandchild­ren, Amy (John), Ryan (Deanna), Amber (Eric), Brandi, and Andrea; and 12 great-grandchild­ren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Clifton Helms; two daughters, Sharon Kay and Linda Helms; one son, Aubrey “Buddy” Helms; five brothers, Trace, Bill, Allen T, Ira “Sam”, and Buck Wheeler; and three sisters, Gladys McDaniel, Florence Borden and Grace Wheeler.

–––––❖––––– JONESBORO — William Allen “Bill” Hieber, 66, of Jonesboro, passed away from natural causes on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at his home.

Born in Whittier, California, Bill grew up in Jonesboro and was a 1971 graduate of Jonesboro High School where he excelled in sports and was an outstandin­g member of the football and golf teams. He was a quarterbac­k on the football teams that played for the State Championsh­ip.

Bill was a graduate of Arkansas State University where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

Following graduation from ASU, Bill began a career in environmen­tal services working with the Federal Environmen­t Protection Agency and the Arkansas State Environmen­tal Services. Through his career Bill lived in Miami, Florida, Tallahasse­e, Florida, Saudi Arabia and Seattle, Washington, before returning to Jonesboro in 1999 following the death of his mother. Bill was a member of First Presbyteri­an Church of Jonesboro and the Jonesboro Country Club. He enjoyed being on Norfork Lake and fishing on the White River.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents: Wayne and Marjorie Hieber and a brother, Daniel Hieber. Survivors include one sister and brother-in-law: Beth and Raymon Harvey of Little Rock; one brother and sister-in-law: Jim and Phyllis Hieber of Little Rock; three nieces and their husbands: Sara Harvey Smith and husband Doug Smith of Santa Cruz, California, Shannon and husband Mike Huels of Little Rock, and JaqueLena Hieber of Gatlinburg, Tennessee; one nephew, Brian Hieber of Little Rock; and his two canine companions, Maddie and Merlin.

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Ronald Scott Root, age 53, died Monday, March 18, 2019 in Savannah, Ga. Scott was born December 22, 1965 in Searcy, Arkansas. He graduated from Ouachita High School in Donaldson before embarking on a career in the U.S. Air Force. Scott served in Panama and was a veteran of Operation Desert Storm. While serving, Scott continued his education and earned a B.S. in Human Resources from St. Leo University.

Scott is survived by three sisters, Allison Freewalt (Art) of Hot Springs Village, Elizabeth Essmyer (Chris) of Butte, MT and Amanda Wallace (John) of West Des Moines, Iowa, nephews, Jeremiah Saunders, Cliff Wallace, Jarrod Wallace, Seth Wallace and nieces, Becca Jane Hughes and Sarah Beth Rose.

Scott loved music and dogs and laughing with his friends and family. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
