Travelers knock off Drillers in 10 innings

A sacrifice fly by Nick Zammarelli scored Jake Fraley in the 10th inning Friday to give the Arkansas Travelers a 5-4 victory over the Tulsa Drillers in front of 8,224 at ONEOK Field in Tulsa.

Under minor-league rules, Fraley started at second base to begin the inning. Logan Taylor grounded out, moving Fraley to third base before Zammarelli’s sacrifice fly provided the second out. Joe DeCarlo was hit by a pitch before Jordan Cowan struck out to end the inning for the Travelers.

Fraley singled to right field with two outs in the first inning to give the Travs an early lead, but the Drillers responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning on an RBI triple by Cody

Keibert Ruiz.

The score remained 2-1 until the fourth inning, when

Arkansas got RBI singles from DeCarlo and Cowan to take a 3-2 lead. Dom Thompson-Williams tripled down the left-field line in the fifth inning and scored on Kyle Lewis’ sacrifice fly, pushing the lead to 4-2. A two-run double from Angelo Mora in the bottom of the sixth inning tied the game at 4-4.

Chris Mariscal was 3 for 5 with 1 run scored from the leadoff spot, while Fraley and Cowan had two hits each for the Travs.

Jack Anderson (2-0, 1.50 ERA) earned the victory in relief, allowing 3 hits with 1 strikeout in 12/3 innings. Dan Altavilla earned his third save of the season after getting Zach McKinstry to pop out to Logan Taylor in foul territory to end the game.
