TODAY VFW Gun and Knife Show

MELBOURNE — The Melbourne Veterans of Foreign Wars’ Gun and Knife Show will continue from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the local post, 584 West

St. Vendors will sell guns and knives with accessorie­s, as well as leather goods, coins, baked goods and other items. The VFW will raffle a Savage A17 .17 caliber varmint rifle with scope, sling and extra magazines. The admission fee is $5 for ages 12 and older and $4 for veterans. A snack bar will serve breakfast, then burgers, hot dogs and drinks for lunch. The VFW will offer Eddie Eagle Kids Gun Safety classes.

STARS Meeting

MONDAY Democratic Party of White County Meeting

Community Music Gathering

BATESVILLE — A community music gathering will take place from 6-8 p.m. at First Community Bank. Singers, players and listeners are invited to attend. Accompanim­ent will be provided.

Cabot AARP Meeting

CABOT — The Cabot AARP Chapter will have its monthly meeting and potluck supper at 6 p.m. in the second-floor Community Room of the Veterans Park Community Center, 508 N. Lincoln St. Lou Tobian from the Arkansas AARP office will be the speaker. Members and those interested in membership are invited to attend.

THURSDAY American Legion Post 71 Meeting

CABOT — Criswell-Robinson American Legion Post 71, at 114 N. First St., will have its monthly membership meeting at 7 p.m. There will be a meal at 6 p.m. The meeting will include voting on officers, or come to Post 71 prior to Thursday to vote. SEARCY — Harding University will host the Special Olympics Arkansas Summer Games Thursday through Saturday. Opening ceremonies will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Harding’s First Security Stadium.

FRIDAY Herbs in the Kitchen

MAMMOTH SPRING — Ozarka College in Mammoth Spring will offer Herbs in the Kitchen, a Continuing Education course, from 10-11:30 a.m. The class will be taught by Robin Moore, a certified community herbalist. Students will learn how to relieve symptoms from colds, flu and digestive upset, and what herbal remedies to make with ingredient­s found in their pantries. The cost is $20 or $16 for participan­ts 60 and older (includes an herbal kit). Preregistr­ation is required. SATURDAY Medicinal Herb Workshop

Fun in the Sun

FAIRFIELD BAY — Fun in the Sun, a summer bash in the Bay, will take place from noon to 8 p.m. at the Cool Pool Cafe and feature swimming, water balloons and lawn games, including horseshoes, cornhole, shuffle ball and lawn pong.
