BALD KNOB — George Michael Goodwin, 62, died Sunday, May 19, 2019. He was born November 14, 1956 in Batesville, Arkansas. Michael was a member of the Local 798 and loved pipelining. He was a proud supporter of the Billy Graham, Charles Stanley and Adrian Rogers ministries and was a member of Central Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Goodwin; mother and step-father, Erma Jean Goodwin Nolen and Harvey Nolen; sons, Christophe­r Michael Goodwin and Stephen Delano; sister, Pamela Goodwin Delk (Marvin); grandchild, Lane Goodwin. He was preceded in death by his father, George D. “Buddy” Goodwin.

Neva grew up in Conway, Arkansas, and later attended Mabelvale High School where she graduated with the class of 1952. After briefly attending Arkansas State Teacher’s College, she joined the United States Air Force. Soon after enlisting, Neva met William (Bill) Harvey and they were married February 9, 1956. She separated from the military after getting married in order to stay with Bill as he moved around the world with the Air Force. In 1976 they settled in Sherman, Texas where they lived until retiring to Bella Vista, Ark. in 1991.

Although she left the military, Neva continued to work as a civil servant for the Department of Defense as they moved from location to location and eventually retired from civil service at the US Post Office in Sherman, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Richard. She is survived by her husband, William Harvey; son, Jim Harvey, Bella Vista, Ark.; sister Dearl Graupner, Little Rock, Ark.; brother Paul Jones, Neosho, Mo.; five grandchild­ren, and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held May 22, 2019 at Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E Lancashire Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark. with visitation at 1 p.m., service at 2 p.m. and a reception immediatel­y following the service. –––––❖––––– CLINTON — Chester Douglas Fisher Jr., 84, of Clinton passed away Saturday, May 18, 2019. Born May 17, 1935 in Malvern, Arkansas, to the late Charles Fisher Sr. and Laura Mae Helm, Charles was a veteran of the Arkansas National Guard. He served during the Little Rock Central High School Crisis. Charles was also a member of the Van Buren County Fair Board, Ozark Health Hospital Volunteer Program and was a lifelong Methodist.

Surviving him are his wife, Linda Emerson Fisher; children, Doug Fisher, Danny Fisher, Mark Fisher, Nancy Garrido; stepchildr­en, Charley Higgins and Marshall Jenkins; numerous grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren. He is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Thomas Fisher.

–––––❖––––– LONOKE — On May 19, 2019, Joe Lewis Kelley, age 90, son of late parents, Holman and Gertie Kelley, passed away in his home he built with his own two hands for himself and his late wife, Marjorie Lois Kelley. He was a farmer, a builder of homes, HVAC - Remington Arms, Gibbs Service Company for his buddy, Huey Gibbs. He enjoyed his craftsmans­hip, Adirondack furniture showing at River Market for over 20 years, where he made many friends.

Known for his strength, large hands, big heart and unconditio­nal love for his family and friends. His stories were music to your ears and taught many lessons not only about daily life values, but passions for nature such as gardening, fishing, and hunting. He knew the importance of hard work yet taught us the joy of “make believe” and his love of Disney. He warmed everyone’s heart with his “Popeye” smile.

–––––❖––––– MALVERN — James Teague, 94, of Malvern, away on May 20, 2019. He was born November 6, 1924, in Hot Springs to the late Robert and Nona Hughes Teague. James was a member of Ten Mile Missionary Baptist Church for 58 years, 35 years of those were serving as a Deacon. He was retired from Reynolds Metal Corp.

He served as Sergeant-at-Arms for the Arkansas State General Assembly from 1983 to 2017. James was proud to have worked with many Senate, House and Staff members and made many friends there.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, James and Gary Teague, sisters, Cleo Phillips, Vernon Chesser, brothers, Joe and Will Teague. James leaves to cherish his memory, wife of 77 years, Louise Teague, daughter, Diana Gail Hughes of Benton, sisters, Patsy Doster, Lois Tucker and Joy Meredith, all of Hot Springs, eight grandchild­ren and twelve great-grandchild­ren.

–––––❖––––– ROWELL — Joy Lee Willis Boydston, 80, of the Rowell community near Rison, died Saturday, May

18, 2019. Mrs. Boydston was born December 3, 1938, in Randall, Arkansas. She was a daughter of the late James Cullen Willis and Vera Blake Willis. Mrs. Boydston attended the University of Conway where she received her BSE and the University of Fayettevil­le where she received her Master of Education and Administra­tion. She taught sixth grade for a combined nine years in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and Dayton, Ohio. Mrs. Boydston continued to teach for several more years in Woodlawn, Arkansas, before accepting an elementary principal position, which she held for twenty years. She was a member of AEA, AESP, Arkansas Retired Teachers Associatio­n and NESP. Mrs. Boydston was a faithful member of Center Missionary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, Discovery program for children, bible school and served on the education committee.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward C. Boydston Sr. Survivors include her daughter, Sherrie Lynn Boydston Lane; son, Edward Carroll Boydston Jr. and his wife, Shirley; grandchild­ren, Whitney Nicole Robinson, Spencer Drake Robinson; four sisters, Ernestine Taunton, Diane Ashcraft, Bobby Jane Wyatt, Gloria Bass, and two brothers, Joe Willis and James Carroll Willis.

–––––❖––––– SCOTT — Bill Allen Whitfield, 79, of Scott, Arkansas, passed away on May 17, 2019. He was born on February 25, 1940, in North Little Rock, Arkansas, to Grady and Myrtle Whitfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Grady Whitfield Jr. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Norma Jean Dawson Whitfield, three sons Kenneth (Tanya) Whitfield of Little Rock, Donald (Tanya) Whitfield of Bryant, Billy (Stacy) Whitfield of Scott, and one daughter, Denise Mitchell of Austin, Arkansas. He is also survived by a brother Jack (Betty) Whitfield, three sisters, Frances Smith, Martha (L.H. Sonny) Mathews, Stella (Rick) Miranda, 13 grandchild­ren and 12 great-grandchild­ren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearer­s will be all of his grandsons and longtime friend John Brewer. Bill was a kind man who looked for the good in everyone. He was self-employed most of his life in the trucking business. He was blessed to have a mother who prayed for him. It was through prayer and his faith in Jesus that sustained him though out his life. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, John Kenneth Harris; one son, Randall Kenneth Harris and wife Brenda; one daughter, Pamela Renee Taylor and husband Rusty; one brother, William D. Merritt and wife Carolyn; two sisters, Nancy Davis and husband Bob, Ann Merritt; five grandchild­ren; and seven great-grandchild­ren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Taylor and Inez Merritt; and one brother, Douglas Merritt.
