Index rises by 3.27, ends day at 420.43

The Arkansas Index, a price-weighted index that tracks the largest public companies based in the state, closed at 420.43 Monday, up 3.27.

“An early rally rolled into a lower finish for stocks after the White House’s restrictio­ns on Chinese telecom equipment company Huawei Technologi­es further inflamed trade tensions between the United States and China,” said Chris Harkins, managing director at Raymond James & Associates in Little Rock.

The index was developed by Bloomberg News and the Democrat-Gazette with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 30, 1997.
