■ Ryshawn Crawford, 18, who is serving a fiveyear prison sentence for robbery conspiracy, was charged with assault and other counts in an attack on a 35-year-old man who refused to give his entire bagged lunch to Crawford while the two were in a holding cell at the Indiana County courthouse in Pennsylvan­ia, authoritie­s said.

■ Tooraj Sohrabi Sedeh, 50, of Franklin, Tenn., pleaded guilty to impersonat­ion and false-statement charges after a deputy U.S. marshal saw him leaving a store in Nashville wearing a U.S. Marshals Service shirt, a badge holder with a marshals patch, and a holstered gun and handcuffs on his hip.

■ Jim Hunt, police chief in Sierra Madre, Calif., said a man and his dog are expected to be all right after a mother bear slashed and bit the man in his backyard after he kicked it to protect his dog, which had tried to attack the bear’s cub.

■ Jeremy Spencer, who was the drummer of the heavy metal band Five Finger Death Punch for 13 years, was sworn in with the Rockport, Ind., Police Department, saying he’s always admired police officers’ work.

■ Greg Abbott, the governor of Texas, called it a “common sense law” when he signed a bill to allow children to operate lemonade stands or other stands selling nonalcohol­ic beverages on private property or in public parks without fear of being shut down by police.

■ Joseph Soriero, an Uber driver in Florida, had to have his left ear medically reattached after what authoritie­s said was a road-rage fight in a parking garage with Sir-Christian Alexander Gordon, 26, who was charged with aggravated battery.

■ Melissa Harrison, 40, and Ramon Alonzo Gregory Falls, 33, face charges on accusation­s that the couple left their child home alone for more than six hours with no running water or food while they robbed a bank in Bellefonta­ine Neighbors, Mo., according to court documents.

■ Tiffany Hummel, 48, was arrested in the robbery of her fiance’s Hendersonv­ille, Tenn., home that was then set afire five times over two days, until the home and its remaining contents were finally destroyed, police and fire officials said.

■ Austin Reed, 19, is expected to be fine after he said he was bitten by a shark while surfing off the coast of Ocean Isle, N.C., with his father saying his son had surgery to close an approximat­ely 10-inch wound on his foot.
