Suspect arrested in series of burglaries

Police officers said a 53-year-old man drove a golf cart to the Little Rock Fraternal Order of Police Lodge and smashed a window with a brick last week, according to an arrest report.

Officers arrested Jackie Cornell Gipson on Tuesday on four counts of felony commercial burglary, three counts of theft of property and four counts of criminal mischief, according to the jail’s roster.

Gipson is suspected in burglaries at the offices of the union representi­ng Little Rock police officers, the headquarte­rs of constructi­on business Darragh Co., historic building Trapnall Hall and brewery Rebel Kettle, according to reports. Police reports list about $4,500 in damage and missing items.

Police said Gipson drove a golf cart to the police union offices early Friday morning at 1700 E. Second St. and forced his way in by smashing through a glass door with a brick. He didn’t take anything, but some of the kitchen appliances had been tampered with, according to the police report.

Police said Gipson climbed up to a kitchen window and into Trapnall Hall at 423 E. Capitol Ave. on June 11 but didn’t take anything. He also broke an RV window and forced his way into a Darragh Co. warehouse on May 28, according to police reports.

Court records show Gipson has about a dozen felony burglary and theft conviction­s dating as far back as 1997.

Gipson was in the Pulaski County jail Wednesday evening in lieu of a $5,000 bond, according to the jail’s roster.
