TUCKER, Ga. — Dr. Charles Lynn Fallis, 93, of Tucker, Ga., passed away on Friday, July 19, from complicati­ons of pneumonia. Dr. Fallis was born on January 20, 1926, in Charlotte, Ark., to Callie Esther Churchill Fallis and Marvin Bishop Fallis. He is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served as a Signalman on the U.S.S. Grimes in the South Pacific during World War II. Dr. Fallis began a long teaching career at Southside High School and Pleasant Plains High School in Arkansas. From 1951-1969, he worked as a teacher, coach, principal, and Superinten­dent of Schools for the Dollarway School District in Pine Bluff. Dr. Fallis served as a Professor and Chairman of the Department of Educationa­l Administra­tion at Georgia State University in Atlanta from 1971-1992. Dr. Fallis earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Arkansas College (now Lyon College) in Batesville; a Master’s degree in Educationa­l Administra­tion from George Peabody College in Nashville, Tenn.; and a Doctorate degree in Education from the University of Arkansas in Fayettevil­le. While a student at Arkansas College he met the love of his life, Betty Jo Perry, and they were married on January 5, 1950. Dr. Fallis is predecease­d by his wife of 59 years, Betty Jo Perry Fallis; and two sisters, Virginia Kosser and Mary Helen Dobbins. He is survived by his son, Charles Perry Fallis (partner-Robert Stephen Matthews) of Atlanta; one sister, Charlotte Katherine Smith of Marianna; and special friends Dr. Farris and Barbara Womack of Raleigh, N.C., and Owen Skinner and Jane McCombs, both of Tucker, Georgia. Dr. Fallis was a life-long Methodist and a longtime member of Tucker First United Methodist Church. Dr. Fallis was also a member of the Atlanta Track Club, and he ran the annual Peachtree Road Race for 38 consecutiv­e years until age 91. There will be a Visitation in honor of Dr. Fallis (on Thursday evening, July 25, from 4:30-6:30 p.m.), at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home, 510 College Ave., Batesville. A funeral service will be held in the Roller-Crouch Chapel (on Friday, July 26, at 2 p.m., followed by gravesite service and burial at 4 p.m., at the Charlotte Cemetery, Off Old School Rd.).

2019, in a Little

Rock, Ark., hospital. He was born November 18, 1943, in

Carlisle, Ark. He was a veteran of the Vietnam

War where he received the

Vietnam service medal and Chaplain medal of Vietnam and a life time member of the Masons. Also member of Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents Susie and Ben Daniels; sister Bennie Sue Harness; and a step daughter Rebecca Ramon.

Survived by his wife Shirley Daniels of Texarkana, Texas; one daughter Angela and a step daughter Victoria Hutchings (Nick) of Hawaii; one sister Chris Mergenschr­oer (Pete) of Little Rock, Ark.; one brother Jim Daniels (Ann) of Mo.; one nephew Todd Harness (Fa) of Little Rock, Ark.; two nieces Stephanie Tiner (Jeff) of Austin, Ark., and Karen Williams of Rogers, Ark.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2019, at East Funeral Home - Moores Lane followed by a family visitation in the chapel. Burial will be at a later date at the Little Rock National Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers contributi­ons may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

–––––❖––––– SPOKANE, Wash. — Ruthann Witwicke Shelton Dow, was born January 23, 1944, in Medford Oregon, and passed away July 1, 2019, in Spokane, Washington. She is with her Lord today and is no longer ill.

She touched many young people in her years of teaching Biology at Springdale High School, Arkansas, and Greenway and Sunnyside High schools in Phoenix, Arizona, giving many students the attention and encouragem­ent they needed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Malinda Witwicke (Wier). She leaves her husband of 44 years: Richard Dow; sister: Donna Witwicke Drewry (Gene); nieces: Genna Dorow and Johnna Throm; nephew: Joshua Drewry; and grandniece­s and nephews.
